Wink Red2014tC's Build Thread... I guess

So I bought my TC in August last year. Figured I would finally start a thread on it since I have done some work to it this spring/summer.

It's First wash, Got it with TRD quick shifter and low profile spoiler.

First "mod" was to install a powered high-level converter for the sub amp (no pictures)

Next was plasti-dipping the interior dash panels (minus the top vents, looks like a PITA)

After that I blacked out the Scion emblems and tC logo, but I felt it was to much black so I used my paint pen to make the lettering red.

You still gotta drop the sub frame on the driver side to maneuver the new sway bar in. I didn't have access to a lift when I did mine and it sucked

I didn't have to drop the subframe, I just undid the lower ball joint and one of the lower control arm bolts on the drivers side (can't take out the lower control arm bolt on the passenger side because the oilpan is in the way) and swung that out of the way, came out fine after that. But I had to re install the strut first or I would have likely over extended the cv axle.

It is possible that the transmission on an automatic would be in the way of taking the drivers control arm bolt out as well.

Really nice car and the interior looks great with this red accents you put... My only reccomendation is if you can change the crappy OEM shift **** for the weighted one. It looks way better and improves your shifting. I just get it around two weeks ago and love it (see pic).

Great Job man, congratulations!

@deloren the overall handling is much improved compared to stock, as to what made more of a difference, I can't say because I installed them at the same time. There is a small issue I am trying to deal with right now with a slight nocking sound from the front springs. Pretty sure I put everything together right. Also I'm not sure if it is limited to the 2014 or not, but the front swaybar does slightly contact the lower control arms on large bumps. I noticed in the instructions that the way the bar mounts is different than the way mine does, although it does mount to the same position. I have not had the car aligned yet, I was supposed to get it done Thursday, but I just ordered my adjustable rear control arms, so I postponed it until those arrive.

@Pedro: Thanks for the comments I'm going to get the interior plastics painted or wraped professionally when the plasti dip starts to peel, I quite like it so i'll get it done right when I have the money. As for the shift ****, I'll wait until I have more than one thing to get from sparks or whoever to save on shipping as I am in Canada.

And here a some more pictures as promised, hope the help.

Red 2014 : yes I saw your BC plates, I'm in canada too. In ON and I have a question to you related our "friendly "weather we have here in Canada:

With this drop you do on your tC, have you drive it on ice-snow? I have thinking to drop mine, but wonder how will be the drive on winter. I get my car last January, and with the snow tires I have no complains with my car, but sometimes I found some snowbanks in some places little high and that is my concern comes from, because if my car is too low, I'm affraid to damage it. But let me tell you, your car looks awesome this low!

Hey man, also in Canada in the snow belt of London ontario. My car is dropped 3 inches. i drove it all winter without issues. just wash your car once a week to make sure there is no snow build up and you will not have any issues.

I didn't comment on that issue yet, but the winter was just awful in new york this past season, so i was curious as well and i was my car around every week to every other week because of those reasons, the snow build up and salt, so im definitely going to get the eibach sportline springs and sways this summer..

Thanks for the tip Yardley!. I washed it anyways every week in winter to avoid this white look and salt accumulation all over the place. So I will think in a set of springs too.

I have the knocking sound too with my sport lines but I don't have the sway bars (yet). I thought maybe I didn't tighten the bolts to spec (thought I did).

Time to hit the drawing board on what to think the issue is next.

Sorry guys, but I don't drive mine in winter. I have my old '92 Cavalier for winter until it blows up, falls apart, crashes, or any combination of the three

As I have not had an alignment done yet, I might pull the front apart on sunday and see if I can find the issue. At first I thought I put the swaybar links on backwards, but it doesn't look like it fits the other way. I am pretty sure it is just a coil hitting another one, but we'll see. Might try putting a strip or rubber in there or something.

U remember to put the spacer on before the nut on the strut bolt ? I have no noise on my trd. Bit in the rear if I go over big bump or pothole but it's rare and just a small clang. I'd start by double checking all bolts/nuts.

So I got my tb performance rear camber arms in yesterday and installed one side, but something doesn't seem right to me. The stock one has the ability to deal with angles where the th one seems to only work when straight. I did manage to get it installed but I'm not sure if it is right, could those who have them installed post a picture of the outer connection to the wheel hub?

This is how I have mine installed just looking for conformation on the washer and tapered spacers

So I managed a small fender bender today and messed up the upper and lower front grills. Does anyone know where I can get new ones or am I limited to a toyota/scion dealer?dealer? The bumper is fine, has a clear-bra on it, just polished out the fine scratches and she's good.

Only one I've seen:
http://m.ebay.com/itm/191250784565

PS I'm on sportlines now. You need to put an isolator on second coil from the bottom on the inner side (closest to engine) on both front springs. The bottom coil and thus coil hit each other. I used 1/2" heater hose but it's quite thick. This will solve your noise issue.
