Scion BOOST question
So i realized I haven't driven my car as much as any of you guys. i'm hovering around 600-700 miles after 7 weeks. at this rate i'm not going to make it to the 10k miles at 1 year and 20k miles at 2 years.
the question is, will the dealership still change my oil at 1 year and 2 years even if i i'm not reaching the 10k and 20k mark? cause it feels like i might get my first oil change, but they might not give me my second cause by that time i'm not longer covered by my scion BOOST.

they probably will. two oil changes are two oil changes...are two oil changes and that is the same as two oil changes.
and check the owner's manual, because it says change your oil every 5k miles OR 6 months, whichever comes first.

owners manual says 10k because its synthetic. also i notice that the wording on the boost membership packet says everything in miles, not years. the packet does not explicitly say they will do the maint based on time, only miles, which is why i'm worried.
If it doesn't say time, then you should be good when you do hit 10k and 20k miles.
Man... you're averaging 100 miles per week. I do 350 on a normal week, plus any roadtrips on top of that. Ugh

didn't u go to the Longo Owners meeting? they explained this stuff...haha anyways...
quick notes:
Scion Service Boost info here: http://www.scion.com/serviceboost/
it says 2 yrs 25k miles...so do ur last before that..
Longo also sent me (by mail) a service card about Scion Service Boost...they wont send it out until you do ur 2nd service...or the first 5k complimentary maintenance (the 1st service being the 1k complimentary maintenance)
all they do is...check fulids, check floor mats, rotate tires, visual inspection...and then oil change every 10k miles
who helped you buy the car? who is your service agent? you can ask them...Longo customer service is really good and friendly. any questions, i just call them no problems
my sales person is David Liang and my service agent is Young Tea...they are both real cool and helpful.
let me know if u want their numbers.

Services should be performed at every 5k miles or 6 month intervals.
The Service BOOST will cover up to 2 years or 25,000 miles.
So by the time the service boost is up, you should have done at the very least 4 services.

This might be out of topic but don't you also notice that before the "free oil change" dealers would recommend changing the oil for 3k-5k miles to get more money out of your pockets.
now its upto 10 k miles.
I know they are using a synthentic oil which doesn't break down, but still even with synthetic they used to say change in at 5k.

^^^ The first gens never used full synth.
Toyota/Scion used a semi synth oil since 2008, which was the 5,000 mile interval. Full synth since 2010, which was when it changed to 10,000 mile intervals. BUT the recomended service never changed from 5,000 miles.
Oil changes happen at 10K, services happen at 5K

fyi..
i was also told (by Longo Toyota people and my mechanic cousin that works at Claremont Toyota) that changing the tC2 oil WITHOUT full synthetic is bad for the car
and yes rAaR really

Jeff sold me the car, and i didnt really ask him anything, thought i wanted to ask around here before saying anything irl. i've seen David Liang around. also how do you find out who your service agent is?
i havent even gone to my first month, 1k yet cause of school and stuff, might do it now that i'm done with tests.
thats where my question comes in, can i get the 5th maint service even i'm not close to 25k but still under the 2 years?

during my owners meeting the guy up there wasn't even sure when someone asked. the customer asked why in the manual it said to change the oil every 5k but the "toyota care" ( scion boost) said they would only cover every 10k
but with that said, jeff was super clear to do it every 10k, and all the scion info hasn't said other wise. definitely use synthetic for the tc2.

go to the longo scion website and go to make a service appointment..wen u put in the VIN and fill out the appointment it will tell you the name
or for me, David told me....maybe ask Jeff...i heard he's cool too?
for the owners meeting...it felt a little too much toyota and not enough scion (ppt had no toyotas...they didnt mention scion unless i asked)...but they were pretty knowledgeable about the oil changes and that IF synthetic 10k...IF not synthetic 5k...and IF the car is synthetic then make sure u get synthetic...and its best at the (longo) dealership because they know better..rather than a random shop that might do something else

and yea, during the meeting, the longo guy said exactly what you said. longo is on top of everything, its toyota thats confused. longo is just trying to sort things out with toyota i think thats where the confusion came up with the customer questions.
It wouldn't be bad for the car but you wouldn't be able to go 10k miles between oil changes either. While you're under warranty you should be following the recommended maintenance guide to the letter and documenting everything.
good to see someone else local on the forum.
