Show us your RACK!
I've noticed from the hitch threads that there might be some riders here. No matter how serious, I know that transporting things around inside or out of this car can be a bit cumbersome at times. While some have taken to hitch mount, others like myself are not so fortunate because of modified exhaust systems. So, with a little creativity, I managed to get a rack installed on my car and have decided to throw the images here for all to see that it is possible.
I purchased the Thule Raceway2 and use the Yakima Glass Hatch Hooks (link), which were modified, to attach the rack to the car. See below.

This little setup works like a charm. Not only are all the cables conveniently stored in the rack itself, but the adjustability of the arms themselves allows me to clear the spoiler without issue!
The Yakima hooks were modified by attaching two 1" metal rings about 3ft from the hooks themselves. These were stitched in using a nylon stitch for strength. This allows me to attach the traditional Thule rack hooks to the rings so that I didn't have to modify anything else. If you were using a rack other than the Raceway, which uses a traditional nylon strap, you would NOT need to modify the Yakima hooks. They would simply replace the Thule hooks in this area.
Alternatively, you could also buy a Yakima, which includes these hooks and now has applications for this car! They didn't when I bought, so my loss I guess.
Oh, and even though the feet are well padded, I have a roll of 5mm clear vinyl that I put down in key areas before I put the rack on. Adds a little work, but worth it in the end.
Anyways, if you have a rack on your car, post it up. Its good to get ideas for those of us who have more than 1 outdoor hobby!
awesome. it looks great! like you said, because of certain mods and the fact that the tC simply isn't an SUV, the flat fold-down seats in the back and adding a roof definitely is something to take advantage of when you need to carry all sorts of different things or just doing some traveling.
I'm looking into getting a roof rack myself. tC1 here though. it's already out in the market but i just need the cash =P

...I wash and wax the bike as much as the car too...lol.

Try refreshing...I don't see any issues.
My rack is the '05 xB, holds a Specialized Rockhopper and Hardrock with no issues. Have yet to try this on the tC, but I really don't want to!!
Appreciate the pics of your rack there 1stOne, helps me decide IF I ever plan to get a rack for the coupe.

I'm sure Yakima will have tC2 fitment available pretty soon.
As with the first gen tC, however, it's likely that it'll be impossible to mount the crossbars far apart enough for a lot of the rack accessories to fit.
EDIT:
I forgot to say how much I love your car. Your build actually makes me want a tC2. I really didnt like the look of them stock, but with the drop, exhaust, and those beautiful RPF1s, I can't help but be in awe.
Great job.

And thanks for the comments. I'm all about clean and simple. Proof that function and form can co-exist.
I was doing that for a while. I have a giant moving blanket that helps, but if the bike is muddy, the last thing you want to do is put it in the car...
