Default Starting

Hello, I've had an issue with my 2011 Scion tC for awhile now. Ever since I got it, at a cold start, there sounds like a grind. It only does it when I first start it up for the day. It has to sit for I'd say 4-6 hours and it does it again. But when I start it after it resting for about a half hour even, it starts and sounds fine. I have been told it could be the starter, which I know it isn't. It always starts right up. I also read on a Toyota forum that for this year, it just, "does," it. Which I don't think this is a normal thing. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
