Default TRD Exhaust upgrade

Hello.

Has anyone got the TRD exhaust for the new tC??? I' considering this, but read a review that it has an irritating drone. Also seems kinda pricey. I could put a flowmaster on for less than 1/2 of what this costs. What do you guys think about this part vs other aftermarket mufflers?

I don't care for the sound of the stock exhaust, I want something that sounds deeper and a little louder.

thanx

I've heard it, although I haven't purchased it. I know a few people that have it though. There is no drone. If anything, stock drones more. It has a nice deep note and a light performance tone when throttled up.

If your shopping based on cost, your almost always going to find something in the aftermarket that is cheaper. But, there is often a reason why. Flowmaster are junk mufflers. They are poorly made and here in Canada at least, they are replaced every 2-3 years due to rot issues.

The TRD is a nice kit, well made, good sound. But, if your looking for very loud, you wont find it in OEM.

I have the TRD and it's amazing. There isnt much drone but the sound when you accelerate more than makes up for it. I would buy it again over any other ones available

What year is your car??

It doesn't get tooo loud, does it? I don't like the ones that sound like giant mosquitoes buzzing past your head, if you know what I mean..

thx

I have a 2009 and I've never noticed it as far as buzzing goes. I drive a 08 Tundra with a Magnaflow full exhaust and that thing drones quite a bit so maybe my ears welcome the tc a bit more. So if there is drone from the trd I dont notice it at all.

I personally dont like the sound of the TRD exhaust, I went with a Magnaflow on the xD due to this and will likely be going the same route on the tC...

Of course! Im going to do a full write up review followed by a review. Would a video install benefit anyone or would I be wasting my time?

Video install would benefit me. I would plan to install myself rather than pay someone to do it for me! Thank you!

Papa Bear, did you go with the 3inch or 2.5 inch piping?

They only have the 2.5 inch piping available and won't be coming out with the 3 inch piping until sometime next summer. Considering I'm not turboed I think it will be more then enough for an NA setup until I can afford boost and after talking to descendant, They said the 2.5 will flow well enough on there turbo kit. I do know however that the world racing site shows a 3 inch setup but I think that is a typo

If your not in a hurry, I'm sure in a year or so the aftermarket will come up with a quiet performance exhaust like Greddy SE, Apexi WS, Tanabe Touring, etc..
