This happens with 18's fairly often when you run over stuff. Why they decided to put 18" wheels on this car is odd, considering the cost of replacing tires and the overall cost of the vehicle itself.

I've been pricing tires in advance of the car purchase and expect to spend 67% more for the exact same tire vs a 16" for example. More specifically at least $250 more for the set of 4.

Wait until your moonroof breaks/shatters...there's 1/8 of the entire car! Yes, I've been doing my homework.

No moonroof on the xB? Wow, I couldn't imagine not having a roof after having one for 19+ years. I am not looking forward to the day a car so spectacular comes out that I must have that doesn't at least offer it as an option. You can probably get an aftermarket one...

Back to the topic on hand:

OP, the only thing you can do is be more careful in the future. Also, larger diameter wheels have an increased chance of warping/bending as a result of the low profile tires on them. Be lucky you only suffered tire damage and don't need to replace the wheels too.
