Default 06 xA and stock foglights

So has anyone added stock fog lights to their xA as an option. My xA didn't come with fog lights and after driving a few times at night with it, it only seems like the lighting could be better so was looking at ordering the fog light kit but wondering if it comes with all wiring and the factory switch or are they only selling you 2 lights for $350 and then you need to fabricate the brackets? Just don't want to have to ordre a set of PIAA's or Catz and then have to fabricate brackets for it.

Thanks

I'd suggest going to TRD Sparks and asking what all was included in the kit... It might be a little cheaper thru them as well.......

I can tell you that right now, only genuine Toyota part will fit. The assembly has 2 parts that sandwich the foglight, and then snaps into the VERY odd shaped foglight holes. When you punch out the knockouts, the hole is almost rectangular. I learned this after ordering one of the generic kits off ebay.

I got genuine part from an ebay vendor named partsforless2. Right now he has some xB fogs for 179...which is what I ended up paying for mine. As much as I hated paying that much for fogs, they look awesome. Hope this helps. Just don't waste your money on some generic kit, unless you can fabricate something to fill in the hole around the fogs, and hold them in place.

PatM, deffinitely check out partsforless2 on ebay. You'll save 50 bucks or so. I got mine from him as well for $184 shipped to my door. 100% plug and play. Came with relay, switch, harness. Everything that you need to install them. Just make sure you buy the correct ones for your vehicle. Here's a link to partsforless2's current auction for a 2006 xA. If you need 2004-2005, then either shoot him an email or keep an eye on ebay and he'll probably have some more soon.

Here's something that might help you on the install if you're planning on doing it yourself. The instructions that I got from partsforless2 showed that I had to take the entire front bumper off, but I got some from trdsparks.com that only shows taking off the lower engine cover which is only a few screws. Just look at them for a minute where you'll know how they go back on. Nothing hard. Just kinda like folding the top on a cardboard box....that'll make sense when you install them. Also, make sure you have a stubby phillips screwdriver because the space is tight for the right foglight because of the washer fluid jug. Someone had stolen my stubby phillips, so I was stuck using a ratchet, socket, extension, and screwdriver bit. All of which kept falling off. After putting on the fog lights, I've since bought a new set of like 50 screwdrivers just because I was so frustrated by my pieced together screwdriver that I used for this.

Here's the link for the trdsparks.com instructions.

My kit came with a little wiring, a relay, and switch...most of the wiring is already done at the factory, you just plug into it.

BEWARE!!! There are some oem foglights that fight the hole in the bumper but the wiring ahs nothing to do with the factory warning. I got suckered . Bought factory foglights and the installation was a breeze. If buying on ebay ask many many questions

so are these foglights really worth it? Do they help out with the visibility of the car or is all cosmetic?

Also, it seems like the install is reasonable to DIY. I am a novice but am about to buy the stocks and give it a try. What do yiou think?

They are o.k. but nothing to write home about. I think the stock headlights need to be re-aimed first before anything then the foglights for a little extra and that is about all.

Yeah, I was gonna do a tutorial on the foglight install, but it was waaayyy too easy.

As for the light output, I don't know about the 06 fogs, but the bulbs on the 04-05 fogs were meh. I upgraded them to PIAA Yellow Ion Plasmas and they do a much better job.

cosmetic only. the fog don't light up the road at all. you can't barely see the light unless your nose is touching the windshield.

save money and buy something else.

^^^ It depends on how you have them adjusted. I aimed them up a bit, so mine do a good job of lighting up the area in front. Should be a little brighter once I do the SilverStar thing too. Maybe the projector lamp on the '06 functions better than the '04/'05 lamp....I don't know.

Plus, cosmetics are also important. IMO, the lamps help to fill out the front end.
