Default Body kit and paint questions...

Hey guys! I got my body kit in the other day. I was wondering... Should I...

- paint the kit before putting it on my car?
- mount the kit, unmount it a few days later, and then paint the kit by itself?
- paint the kit/car with the kit on the car?

I'm sticking with my current car color, by the way. I'm just going to match the kit itself. I don't know if there is a preferred (or better) way to paint and to install the kit.

I would mount the kit and get it painted with it on the car that way you could see if the paint matches right away rather than mounting it later and finding out that the color is off.

If you have the proper paint equipment such as a hvlp spray gun and a proper compressor, I suggest getting the paint matched at a Automotive Paint shop, its gonna be a lot cheaper in the end plus they can match the color if you bring in the code, make sure to use a good primer and use a good quality clear coat like Dupont , if its a lower body kit I suggest putting 2 - 3 clear coats (they dry fast ) plus make sure to use the reducer and not laquer thinner to thin it , that will make it lay out nicer , ask me if you got any other questions i spray a lot of automotive

I will tell you the factory paint on these things is garbage. I rolled mine right out of the dealership and into the paint booth. (2006)One pass of the sandpaper and the factory color was gone.

The system is..mount the kit.....get it to fit correctly which most do not. Then have it painted. Remove your gas door and take it to the paint shop so they have a good color piece to match too. Again the paint is so crappy on these from the factory they are hard to match. If you have a Camo one forget getting a good match. Once painted use 2 guys and carefully install it. I have installed over 50 body kits over the years. Your instructions will tell you the same thing.

Good luck!!
