Default Bosch Icon Wipers

Yeah, so I've needed new wipers for a few months. I was getting annoyed by the chatter and the water getting smeared on the windshield. I was tempted to drop some cash on some Valeo wipers at Tire Rack at $60 a set.

I was reading some magazine and saw that Boscsh came out with a new series of wipers in the same style as the Valeo...but with a lip spoiler for more down force(lol). I checked Tire Rack to see if they had them, but they didn't. However, the Valeo wipers are now $40 a set. Being bored one day, I went at Advanced Auto Parts to check if they had them...and they did. A 24" and 16" came out to @45 bucks after tax.

I installed them last night, sprayed some windshield wiper fluid and watched the wipers dance on my windshield. They were smooth as butter...no chatter...no streaks! They look neat, too. A lot of Euro cars have them. I think Volvos and Mercedes have them as an option (Valeo?).

That being said..here are the pics: http://www.flickr.com/photos/20864713@N00/tags/bosch/
Excuse the dirty car...the owner doesn't care enough anymore.

Well, it rains in Florida...A LOT. We'll see how they hold up. Also, my stock wipers would start to whistle at high speeds (Mach one...). This should fix that issue. I wonder if it'll help with wind noise. I'll find out this weekend...

I bought these as well about two weeks ago. Autozone was out of 16" wipers so I bought a 17" as a substitution. It fits perfectly without any issues and boy do they wipe like there was no tomorrow. :D

An awesome thing happend while I was putting them on in the parking lot. This guy pulls into the parking lot with his black Mercedes E-Class, which was quite beautiful if I may add. He gets out of his car and he looks at me and says "that is an awesome car". He asked me a few questions about what it had in it for an exhaust since he noticed the brand stickers on the rear side windows, and we chatted about it for a few minutes and went our separate ways.

Boy did I feel like a million bucks after that. See, some Mercedes owners have class.

Sorry to dig up a old thread, but I just got one of these for my dads drivers side because Advance Auto Parts has 25% off all wipers right now. To get the 26" that the tC takes, they have to order it. How long have these lasted for you guys? I am debating buying me a set. My cars stored in winter, so hopefully they last a long time if I get em?

When you store the car for winter, are you suppose to do anything special to the wipers? Like put them on a towel. Pull them upwards? Any ideas? I know leaving a wiper on a windshield too long can make the shape kinda dead, and flatten em out right?

The Icons I had on my xA lasted a year before they started needing replacement, and that also included winter use in the Northeast.

I think it would be a good idea to keep the wippers off the car if you are going to store the vehicle over the winter. This will take the stress off the wiper blade and help longevity.

i just went to advance and ordered them. You can't beat the 25% off deal they have going. I got like $6 off one and like $4 off the other or something close.

The good old 26" and 16" were not stocked in the store so they had to order them.

Would you recommend these blades for winter being they are so costly? I ask because I just put one on my dads car!

Thx

I have used them during the winter and I was very pleased with them. Since the blade is all self contained with no exposed framework like in a traditional wiper blade ice and snow will not cause the blade to freeze during adverse weather conditions so it will stick to your windsheild just like a winter wiper blade.

Another plus to the design is the shape of the wiper blade. Because of the airfoil design the blade stays on the windshield even at uhm, "High Speeds" I've done 95MPH on the highway with them on and they do not skip or chatter because of the airfoil.

I work at an Advance Auto Parts and everyone I work with uses them and that is what we reccommend for the best wiper blade and with 25% off you can't go wrong.

I'll try to get you some in the next day or two. They definately give the xA a more "upscale" look. :D

What I do is keep bosch icon 20 apiece wipers in the backseat,
run stock ones for everything else, only take out and change bosch icons when I get to the car while it's raining. That will last you forever. Can't be lazy though

Apparently you can't have shame, either...
