Default foglight installation

Hi guys,

I've been thinking about putting foglights into my xa, but don't know the first thing about the installation. How tough is it? Sorry, I'm sure this has already been discussed, but I couldn't find it.

Also, how much of a different in the lighting do they actually make? Mostly for show, or do they actually do some good for your visibility..

Thanks!

Please note that I am referring to the Toyota OEM option fogs.

Installation is a breeze. It's not a ten minute job, but there's nothing hard about it. The hardest thing that I came across doing it was cutting a zip tie off the wire that plugs into the back of the fog switch. Had to do a freaking headstand to get to that thing. Here are the install pdf's courtesy www.trdsparks.com

When I installed mine I didn't mess with aiming them at all. Mine are set to light up the road immediately in front of my xA. This is good when you're on a blacktop with poor white line markings on the sides. I can deffinitely tell a difference when I have mine on because of how they are aimed.

A little off-topic stonecold....Since you have an xA as well, you pretty much do like figure B2 in the 04-05 instructions that I posted above. Loosen the inner fender lining and get your arm up in there. On the back side of the corner markers there are two nuts that you need to take off (8mm I think...been too long to remember), then you just pull it to the outside of the fender to take the bulb out of the housing. If the wire is not long enough to pull to the outside of the fender to unlock the bulb housing, then just turn it 90 degrees counter-clockwise I believe and it'll come out, then you can remove the marker light housing.

Re-install in reverse.

getting non oem lights to fit is a pain in the ___. there are few that are even close to our size and i have only seen one brand that looks like it would fit without modifications (on ebay. don't know the actualy brand name).

you can find OEM lights on ebay for about $150 shipped, but the only seller that i saw offered each side separately.

i wanted green halos, so i thought that i would not be able to find anything, but eurotech engineering makes seven colour halos that BARELY fit and i had to drill and cut my 2005 stock bumper. aiming these things should be next to impossible. i think that they are aimed well enough as is, but if not then they are 90% for show.

i just got them on this week, so i don't have more info. i will be making a post with a picture and the ebay seller soon. PM me for more info.
