Default Need Help - How Do I Remove The Scion Logos?

I want to remove the Scion logos from my xA, paint them black, and reinstall them.

Can any one explain how to remove the logo in the center of the front grille, and the logo on the rear hatch, under the window,

I already removed the "xA" emblem from the rear hatch. That was easy using dental tape and goo-gone,

Thanks!

the grille logo is held on with clips just take your grille off to get to that one...

and just use dental tape and goo-gone on the rear emblem...

Are there any posts or clips on the back of the emblem on the rear hatch?

NEVER....NEVER use goo-gone on paint.
That's the stupidest thing I 've ever heard.....
Goo-gone is like the premium paint thinner...

Not true at all.

I've used Goo Gone to remove all the emblems from my S2000, and now my Scion xA.

No paint was removed either time. I've also read numerous posts from other successful users.

I painted the front and rear Scion logos Gloss Black, and they look AWESOME! I'll post pics soon.

Yeah, but I want to repaint the rear logo first.

A small piece of dust fell onto it when it was drying. I'll get it redone and mounted by this weekend.

Love the look, very jazzy looking. I'm too scared to paint anything, i'll probably mess it up somehow if given the opportunity. Did you just put a slab of paint on there or were there other steps you went through?

Default New to this thing

I have an 06 xA and it looks like if the back emblem were to be removed that there would be an indent...anybody else have an 06 xA where they removed the rear emblem?

That's why I painted the emblems and reinstalled them. I'm not going to shave the emblems until I'm willing to paint the whole hatch...and you know how that goes - paint the whole hatch, then the body paint needs to be blended around the hatch, etc., etc....

for taking normal emblems off of a flat surface all you need is three everyday items

#1 heatgun/hairdryer
#2 dental floss
#3 lighter fluid (for a zippo lighter)

Warm up the emblem with the heatgun (always keep the gun moving, don't ever let it sit on one spot for more than 2-3 seconds). You are actually trying to heat the adhesive tape behind the emblem and it doesn't take much, maybe 20-30 seconds depending on how powerful your hairdryer is. Next take a good piece of non-waxed dental floss (I like to wrap it around my index-fingers) and slide it up under a corner of the emblem. If you can manage, try to tug and pull the corner up just a tad exposing the tape. Then pull the floss back out and try to get it under as much of the adhesive tape as possible. Next pull the floss toward the opposite corner of the emblem. Did most of the tape get sliced off? If not. pick the big chunks off. Now it's time to squirt a little lighter fluid onto a rag or papertowel and with a finger roll the remaining adhesive off the paint (it should come off like a sticker). Finally. wash off the spot(s) where you got lighter fluid on the paint.
