anyone know how to remove it properly?

I used a hair dryer to heat it up some and used fishing line on the back of the emblem to "cut" thru the glue. Not saying this is the proper way...just the way I did it

thats how i did mine. hair dryer & fishing line.
make sure you have some adhesive remover to get the rest of the glue off the car.

Goo Gone works wonders, as long as you rinse the area afterwards. I wouldn't use anything harsher than that... not sure what Goof Off would do to the paint, but I know it can haze plastic pretty badly.

I wouldn't. Use something formulated to remove adhesive, rubbing compound is abrasive and will not really do anything for the adhesive... it will haze your clear coat a bit an require polishing afterwards.

i guess i'll just leave the signs on there, don't wanna mess up the paint even more since i already did on some spots. i accidentally sanded a spot on my car using wrong grit (400) but with very light pressure. right now that spot is really really smooth and looks hazy/faded. anything i can do to fix it?
