The xA in Japan, called the Ist, has a Thule rack as an option. In the US, we have a Yakima rack. It goes for about 200 bucks. Check www.yakima.com and build your own yakima kit. Print it out and head to your local bike shop and see if they can strike you a deal. I know you need to buy Q-Towers...but I can't remember the clips...

To resurrect an old topic (NOW i'm finally in the market for one, myself) --

I was interested in the Roof-mount style, but i'm open to this hatch loading one. I have a rear spoiler on my car though... can you tell from your experience if it could still work on my xA? I can check at the local bike shop, but i thought i'd check w/ someone who has used one first.

thanks for you input.

for a hatch mount with a spoiler, thats gonna be really tough for the thule 969. i think that may be tough for any hatch mount rack, you may as well research a good roof rack.
the angle is wierd enough w/o the spoiler on my xA...

hmm... ok.. thanks for the advice. I'll be sure to find a dealer to try it on my vehicle before I purchase. I just got my $50 gift card from scion today, too.... maybe i'll just get the rack from my scion dealer.... roof racks are an official scion 'accessory'. We'll see...

thanks again for your post.

I purchased PerryCraft DynaSport roof rails for this vendor and was pleased with my buy.

Hope this helps. :D RPM

I cant' figure out if I have to order 2 things or 1? A roof rack and a bike rack? or does the roof rack work as a bike rack?

What about something way cheaper like this: http://www.1aauto.com/1A/bike-rack/S...RA00039/272589

as long as you just plan on carting bikes around, yea, thats all you need. now if you want to start carting skis and kayaks around, then look into getting a roofrack

Here is a yakima roof rack from my Echo I use to carry around a kayak and could easily be adapted to carry bikes. If you look hard enough on the upper lip of the door frame you will see some indentions were I guess they intended for roof racks to hook on.

Default Roof Rack wind noise

I’ve had my xA for a few months now but really need to put my Yakama roof racks on (still have them from my old car). Just wondering how much wind noise you get. I haven’t wanted to go get the correct clips & install because the wind noise was so bad in the old car I don’t want to do this to my new one.

With the Kayak on it can get fairly noisy, but I just counter balance that with the radio.
