Default Simple wiper mod

This is for those of you who are annoyed by the fact that the xA rear wiper will not remain in the up position during cleaning.

My wife's '04 Sienna has the same design as the xA. I remedied it with a simple mod I found on SiennaClub.org. Today I did the mod on the xA, with a few pix. This may work on the xB as well.

Step 1. Remove the cap from the wiper.

Step 2. Sorry....lost the pic on this step. Flip it over and locate the thin tab sticking straight up.

Step 3. Remove the tab. I used some side-cutters to remove it and a small utility knife to trim the rest out.

Step 4. Reinstall the cap and you're done.

Any idea why they put that tab there? There must be some reason they don't want the wiper to flip out but I can't see why.

I have no idea why they designed it that way. I think one explanation that they conjured up on SiennaClub.org was that it was less likey to be pulled loose in an automated car wash.

Removing the tab harms nothing. I did this to my wife's Sienna about 2 years ago. No issues.

Thanks for the how-to. This is one of those things that would annoy me for years but I probably wouldn't fix without you showing how. Hope to do the mod tomorrow.
