Default Stubby Antenna

Hey, I just wanted to post this to let people out there know about the I-Series stubby antenna being sold on carccessory.com for the scion xa. Before I bought this I didnt know of many people out there who had this, and didnt see very many threads about this so I had some real worries about how it affected the reception of the radio (static, weak reception, etc)

I got one last week, and it works pretty well. I wouldnt know about how well it works (vs the stock antenna) as you get outside of a radio station's broadcasting range as I am yet to have a chance to drive far enough to test this.

well this past weekend I decided to take a short road trip out to test some stuff out. I'm pretty sure this is car specific and what worked for me may not work for anyone else, but this is what I found out. I live in central california and driving west on 152, as I headed up into the mountains, I stopped the car when the radio started getting scratchy and stuff. I hopped out of my car, pulled my stubby antenna off, stuck my stock back on and got back in the car. I couldnt tell any difference, if anything the stock antenna has WORSE reception? Maybe it's the build material or something, it's weird. The stock antenna is like 8 inches bigger. In any case, it's good stuff. The antenna was cheap, looks pretty darn nice, gets the job done. (I do wish they made a shark fin antenna for the xa, that'd look sharp)

TeeCizzle I dont want to tell you how to spend your money but these antennas are cheap enough for you to buy a small collection to paint and swap out to match your mood. Compared to CF hoods (which are still a good investment, just not a sound one for budget modders like me :D), these are....nothing. By the way, my friend at school drives a TC, he installed an A-series. It looks surprisingly....good, imho. Its tiny though, I havent asked him how reception is

*edit*
I just realized that that same website sells a decorative antenna too, I'm thinking of buying one to stick on my roof, make it look a little like a rally car with sport antennas everywhere. hahahaha I hope that double sided tape doesnt take off paint if I find that its fugly

I have the I-series, I love the look of the stubby antenna. I couldn't take the look of the stock antenna, and reception is good.

So i am guessing along with the stubby antenna you must purchase the base, correct. what about the shark fin antenna does anyone have this?

not necessarily, just as long as you have that type of attenna that screws in right away. you dont need the base.I think it'll fit most cars. if you read the info on teh sharkfins it says non-functional.. IE, decorative.
Of course if youre clever enough, you can mod it to make it functional.

ok, so the A-series is officially ____, my friend with the tc loses reception about a mile outside of town, going to a friend's ranch for fresh steak. He also knows another guy with the same antenna, (he got it somewhere else? said he ebayed it for $2, for a good reason apparently) and he says the reception cuts out randomly? guess its just plagued with problem

As far as I know the BMW style shark fin antennas are for decorative purposes only. They attach with 3m tape, and are just for cool looks.

Good news first time ever a stubby might be better than a bigger one. Have to order one now.

I just got my I-Series in from Carcessory... here is some pics...

I think it looks pretty cool. Reception is great too, though I haven't gone out of the city.

Here's a closeup, it fits nice and flush which is what I was worrying about.

I also got some stickers made so I decided to take some pics

Got rum?
