Default A way to run Xa foglights and running lights WITHOUT having

Anyone know of a way (wire jumper in fuse box, etc.) to ensure that Xa fogs run with parking lights only, and NOT with the headlights on?

I have a 2002 Ford Focus XZ3, and have been able, via a simple piece of wire, to rig a "jumper" in my car's relay/fuse box so that my fogs run with the parking lights on, but NOT with the headlights on. Any way this can occur with the Xa's fogs? Thanks!!

I dont know of any "shorcut" jumper wires, and i would strongly recommend not doing that.

Its fairly simple to do, you just need a relay. Refer to my response to the same question on xateam.com here...

The info pertains to an 06, but you could make it work on any year. I also mention the use of a toggle, but it will also work if you find out what feeds the "hot side" of the switch.

I will try and test a switch monday to give you more info!

Thanks, "bf." I mentioned a sort of "jumper wire" because that is the fix which allows me to run my '02 Focus ZX3 fogs without the headlights being on, just the parking lights. I still am deciding whether to buy the factory fog kit for the Xa. I have installed clear front corners, so I already have been under the front of the car, removed the plastic tray underneath, etc. I've seen the directions for the fog light install elsewhere on this site; looks pretty straightforward. Not crazy about spending over $200 for the lights, though. If they were $50 or so, that would be more palatable. Oh well...our "toys" sometimes are costly!!

How're things in Springfield? Way back "when," I went to A.I.C., so I know the area pretty well.

ehh, its still good 'ol springfield. The feds actually just did a huge sweep down in Mason Square and rounded up a ton of big time players lol.

Anyways, there is a company that sells an almost identical kit for the xA and retains all of the factory wiring for a hellofa lot less. I will look into the price of a kit for you and let you know.

Brandon....yeah, I've already found the Xa-specific clears, from a place I forget, now!! Installed them back in December, they look good. Gets rid of the orange-looking front side markers, nice and clear appearance. But I have heard of the Lexus connection previously. Who knew??!! Turns out a Lexus designer, fired from Scion, secretly desired to provide clears for the Xa!!! Well, maybe not...

Hey Jim,

My connect came up dead. He only currently offers plug n play for the tC (go figure).

...anyways, i remembered this ebay seller a while ago that supposedly sold a really decent plug and play kit and i came up with this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/04-05...em110102674403

...for this price it cant really hurt to at least try right?
Worst case scenario a lense cracks and you have them warranty you a new one ;)

Best of luck to ya.

Hi,

Thanks for the info, but seems the Ebay offer on that light kit has ended. Soooooo...

I appreciate your trying to find an alternative. Ah, the Xa runs fine without fogs, right?!!

I just read through this and this is to run with parking lights, but how do you run them alone? Just fog lights and no other lights alone. Is that possible?
