Default WHAT IS THIS SEVERE WOBBLING

It's very strange because my xA is a brand new 2006 with 240 miles on it and bone stock. But I get this severe wobbling like somebody is moving the steering wheel left and right back and forth very quickly. The support of the seat was taking turns punching my kidney left and right. I was going 60mph so I slow down to 40mph, same wobbling it did not lessen. So I pull over to check, all lug nuts are tight. Jacked up each individual tire and every single one spun freely with no visual imperfection or unbalance. I started driving again and it started wobbling again at 40mph and above. BUT as soon as I got off the freeway, it stopped wobbling EVEN at 60mph on normal asphalt road.

Could it be that section of the freeway where they put grooves in purposely and the stock tires are too skiny and have been tracking into those grooves?
OR
Do I have a car with major suspension defects?

I think if I take it to the dealer, they will blame me for the problem because I installed DF210 springs but I put them in AFTER this happened.

If you put on the springs properly it should not be a problem with the warranty.

I see. I'll take it to the dealer and if they blame me, I'll put back stock ones and go to another dealer. Thanks for your help

I had a similar problem when i got my wheels installed. I got them from tirerack and they supposedly came prebalanced. The first time i went on a freeway with them though, which was on my way to Scion exposed miami, my wheel started to shake like crazy at about 60mph. I took it to the dealer later that week and they had to rebalance them. Haven't had the problem since.

It's the rain channel grooves because when I drove a 98 camry today over that same section, I can see the grooves moving left and right and also can slightly feel the wobble at 100mph cuz it's outskirts and never any cops. Another scion tC in the Denver area had the same problem with factory Pirellis and they made the dealer change them to Yokahama Paradas.

Take the service writer out to that place and let him see for himself.

I have seen wheel weights fall off and cause this problem, too.

But, if it was a weight problem, wouldn't it shake more than wobble? And wouldn't it happen every time he got over 40?

Not being a smart @ss, just wondering.

The car DOES NOT shake or wobble or pull to one side when I am on regular asphalt road even at 70mph.

But it does wobble when I am on that section of I-70

I have just talked to a classmate. He too has the wobbling problem with his '98 Neon ONLY on I-70

Yea it's all square concrete with shrink/expansion gaps and rain channel from that point on..

But it does not effect my 1998 camry and many other cars (looks like anything that's heavier than a xA or Neon 2 door) seem to do fine at 80mph everyday.
