Default 2006 xA aftermarket Fog Lights??

Can't seem to find anyone who's done them on an 06. If I missed a link, please post it. Otherwise, if you installed them, please post a pic and description.

Thanks!

Just got my 06 XA, the dealer said all the fog lights for 06 xa models are being back order. We might have to wait 2 months or more for it to come. that's the info i got.

Thanks for the reply and info. But I'm actually looking for aftermarket foglamp. As I believe they can be had for a whole lot less than the dealer. Like foglight bought online somewhere or ebay. Who's got'em, where'd you get'em, what fits, etc.

I checked at a couple dealerships, they have never seen the 2006 Foglights.... Makes me wonder if they will out for it. I do notice it will have to be a new design for the fogs compared to 05....

Cosmo, let me know what you are doing / have done. Thinking back to the time I was at the dealer, I believe they installed round foglights in the 06........

well I took off the plastic covers and scion decided to put a whole host of ugly behind there...I thought the clips might be off to the side but they are right behind it..if i put a set of fogs in there it would look like shat...so looks like im gonna have to fork over my $ to the dealer ... a second option tho would be to cut out the centers of the covers and put something in there, that way the clips are still covered...but im curious about what to cut it with...a dremel will usually do a clean job and i can always sand if it doesnt..any other suggestions?

I haven't had the covers off to know what it looks like back there. Unless you took some pics you could post!

I just can't believe we're the ony two with an 06 xA who want some aftermarket fogs!

I bought the factory fog light kit from a local dealer and installed them myself. They are round lights with new plastic inserts to fill the rectangular hole and convert it to a round hole. They were very easy to install, came with directions and were worth every penny. A friend of mine got them for wholesale price.

That must be what I saw at the dealer then. The round ones didn’t look bad at all from what I remember. Yep 06xA…..your going to have to post some pics! I don't recall seeing any for the 06 in these forums.

Since you installed them yourself, how much did you pay for just the lights??

A friend of mine who works at an independant garage bought them for me from a local dealer. They got them in two days. I paid $216.00 total. I will take pics tomorrow.
To install:
You put the switch in the dash (the wiring connector is there already).
You put a relay in the fuse box.
You install the lights with the new filler plates/mounting brackets.
You run the harness connecting the two lights. Then the harness plugs into a connector by the right strut tower.
Lastly you bolt the ground wire to an existing stud near the right strut tower.
The lights only operate with the low beams on.
I am going to rewire them so I can run them by themselves so I can use them like daytime running lights.

After installing them, I can't imagine any other lights looking good in the bumper.

behind the covers is just a buncha ugly...yes you COULD buy some cheapers and make mounts and covers for them..but after all that work you would still need wires,fuse,relay,switch...i just bought the factory ones for 270..came with everything all plug n play..waiting on some piaa bulbs before i put em in..ps..got the bulbs on ebay for 45 bux...75 at most other dealers..same series i put in wrx and love em

So, that means that rectangular fogs can fit in there rather than the boring round ones? If this is true. Are there any available rectangular fogs that will fit and possibly be ordered for the xA?

Thanks for the info on the dealer lights and install.

But I thought I read somewhere on these forums that the factory fogs were not that great and / or worth it. It was to my understanding that they were more for looks than function. This is why I'm looking for aftermarket and the reason for this post.

06XA- you have them, what is your opinion? How much of a noticable difference is there with or without them?

Thanks.

Fog lights are designed to shine a flat and low beam of light just above the ground. They shine farther to the left and right of the low beams. They fill in below the low beams. They are not designed to project light farther than the low beams.
Driving lights are made to light up past the low beams.
The factory fog lights work as well as any other OE lights on any car. I have driven Porche's, Infinity's, Lexus's, Audi's, Saab's and many other cars at night. The Scion lights work as well as any of these.
They do what they are designed to do very well. After all making fog lights is not "rocket science".
I can not imagine any other lights, whether round or rectangular, looking as good in the OE position.

Default Fog lights

I looked online for weeks and called every possible company for after market foggers...and came to the conclusion they aren't made yet. I wound up buying the factory ones and I might add they are pretty rad. I'm new to this sight and hope to post pics soon...I have a Silver Streak xA with Black/Chrome Falken 17" rims, spoiler, tinted windows, rear mud flaps, Sirius radio and lots more after market stuff. I have spent over $5k on stuff so far. It looks really cool.
