Default 2006 xa shifting issue

has anyone else had issues with hard shifting in there 2006 models? i read some post about th 05 models and it being bushings and such. i brought mine to the dealer today with of course no avail since it didn't act up. its sometimes hard shifting into 2nd on other occasions 3rd.

if you did have issues did you call scion to report the issue? i did they said they had heard any complaints about it yet.

have you tried double clutching to see if it's a problem with your synchromesh? if you're still having problems even with the RPMs matched (in which case the gear should slide right in with no "jerk" ) it might be a physical problem with your clutch or yeah, maybe the bushings.

Is there an RPM range where it doesn't want to shift?

i have a 2005 and ive taken mine in once. They asked me what i expected. Its an Echo gearbox. Not a RSX gearbox. I was ____ed but i got over it. It acts up in cold weather but besides that its ok.

ive owned a rsx type s and a base rsx 5 speed. They both have notchy 2nd gears but besides that the gearboxes are beautiful. The notchiness felt in the xA is similar to the notchiness in 2nd with the RSX but the RSX doesnt do it all the time. Either way their is no comparing the two cars.

yeah i'll agree there isn't a comparison between the two but i used to work at acura so i used to drive them enough. i'd prefer a nice solid smooth shift if i can get it out of this car like i had in my paseo. the trd quickshifter helped in paseo. once i have money i wanna get one for the xa.

The xA shifter is quite notchy. It's just something I'ev grown used to. Especially annying is the low speed shift to first gear, say, going 5 mph and trying to go into first. It's really tough sometimes.

overall is it likely that its just the linkage bushings that need to be replaced?

I would sure hope it wasnt a linkage issue that needed to be replaced. Mine was having issues from the day i drove off the lot. Im guessing this is the case for a lot of other scion owners. The would have to be a recall on the all the xA's or something. That would be hella lame...it would still be nice to have a smooth shifting tranny once again.

I generally only have shifting problems going into first, but there are occasions where the shifter will feel like its all the way in gear only to find out that it wasn't and I get that wonderful noise of gear slippage. It's happend twice in thrid gear and once in second.

I have had this problem from day one and it still happens with the TWM shifter installed.

Yes, this generally happens when I'm coming to a stop. Any speed above 10MPH and it will not let me put it into first. I have altered my shifting technique so now I just put it in first when I come to a complete stop. My Focus had this as well.

I have not found it difficult to up-shift at all. I can speed shift and even do clutchless shifting without a problem. Down-shifting, is a different story. Going to 1st from 2nd gear while rolling is not easy; but I've had this problem in Honda's (Civic and Accord) as well as on VW Bug's and Toyota trucks.

Does anyone else notice a noise when they let out their clutch too. Kind of a chirping noise. Usually when its cold outside.

The noise you are describing sounds like the throw out bearing. I haven't heard it on my car but my firends WRX does the same thing.

I haven't heard anything like that. Of course in So. Cal. it never really gets "cold."
