Default 2nd A/C?

So without the a/c button on, sometimes a/c air is coming out, i guess when it's in window defrost mode. This is done by a 2nd a/c system? Does anyone know much about this, like how long will a/c air come out? If i wanted to deactivate it, could i just pull the a/c2 fuse?

R U on crack? There's only 1 a/c. If the outside air is cold then the vent air would be cold too. If you want warmer "vent air"- turn up the heat dial

I'm guessing TCs don't do this, but when the A/C button is off and you have the temp all the way on cool and the vent set to windshield, it activates the A/C anyways. I'm wondering if it's for a short time period only, or do you have to move the vent selector off of windshield to shut it off. (or move the temp selector out of the blue range.)

Also, here are the two A/C fuse locations; a main one in the inside fuse box and an A/C 2 fuse in the engine compartment fuse box. Is the A/C 2 fuse used for the defroster-linked A/C feature?

Thanks in advance to whoever knows about this; as in answers not questions.

don't you want dehumidified air in defrost mode?
so why do you want to deactivate it?

Most, if not all modern cars activate the AC on defrost. On my wife's Miata, unpluging one wire from the HVAC panel stopped it. I bet you could do likewise on a Scion.

I know what you mean and the others. Some cars have a switch to turn ac off and on rather its a temp **** or a switch. Others turn on the ac based on deflector settings.

I like having my hvac on defrost and floor, of course withthe xa that turns on the ac. So, burns more fuel and makes hte car cold inside unless you turn on the heat. I just set it for vents/floor unless I need to defog my windows.

yeah same here, but do you know if it's only on for a few minutes like the rear defog wires? Im never patient (or warm enough) to test it.

thanks, well that's what i figured. it's just that the two center front vents don't shut all the way on an '05, so it's less annoying to have it set to window/floor instead of front vents/floor. but then you'd have to have the temp on slightly warm to avoid the a/c. will try removing the fuse next week.
