Default About to buy my wife an xA

What tips can you give me that you wish you had when you were purchasing your xA? I've already purchased a new xB a few months ago, so I know how Scion Sales operates... Basically, what is worth getting through the dealership etc...

Unless you want side air bags or something like that, nothing is worth getting through the dealer. You can get what you want aftermarket. You can even get the same Toyota accessorys cheaper from online Toyota Dealers cheaper. The only exception to this would be if you want the dealer to install something. If you order it with the car they will install for free---if you order later they will charge.

I'm gonna get bashed for this.....for me the scion security and auto dimming mirror was worth getting from the dealer. Not because of the features of the security, but just letting them do it and if it mucks up, then it's covered with warranty. With the auto-dimming mirror, I just straight up love it and got it from my dealer because I didn't want to hassel with installing it and the warranty is nice on that as well.

I got the factory fog lights off a guy on ebay. Seems like they were $184 shipped and I had them installed in about an hour. Saved what...a hundred bucks from what I would have spent with the dealer.

Get cruise control if offered.... and any options that require painting. The rest, get online.

Your wife will love her new xA!

If you're going to stick with the factory stereo you might think about getting the iPod upgrade. I got that and mats.

the ipod upgrade isn't worth it imo with the 06 model since it has a standard aux output port.

My fiance ordered her xA a couple of weeks ago. She is getting Scion Security and cruise put in at the dealership. Another thing you will probably want to get down the road is the armrest. I have heard several people complain about not having one and love it once they do buy it. It is like everyone has said, buy them over the internet, NOT through the dealer if you can. Installs are fairly easy for most things and you have a whole community on here that is willing to help if you run into a snag. Have fun with the new car.

I just bought my xA a little of a month ago...
I bought (and will continue to buy) pretty much everything aftermarket for a lot less money (www.trdsparks.com, www.scionpartspeople.com and www.ebay.com)

The only thing I had dealer installed was the Side Airbags (the only way I could convince my wife to let me get a smaller car like this)...obviously I could not install this myself. I have heard that the security system is a pain to DIY, so maybe have that installed if you want that....

Scion also sent me free Floor mats for my car, even when I did not order them. My buddy ordered an xA this past month (after me) as well and he got free floor mats without ordering them too. So you might get them free without ordering them.

Free floor mats? Man that bites. I paid good money to trdsparks for mine. Then spent another $8 at fred's (kinda like an old kmart style store) for a set that would go over the scion mats and actually cover the carpet where the clutch pedal was beginning to make a mark on the carpet.

I got zero, zip, nada for free....wait I take that back. I did get a coupon to go to the dealership and get a free eagle 1 car care product. I think that was from Scion and not my dealership.

According to protocol, the dealer isn't supposed to throw anything in....

they aren't supposed to, but most people aren't going to report the dealer for saving them cash.
