Default Aftermarket Alarm Issues - HELP!!

When I first got my alarm installed it took only 1 click to unlock to doors but now it takes 2 clicks. It seems like the first click doesn't register and the 2nd does the trick.

Does it sound like a wiring issue or remote issue? Keep in mind it does it with both remotes that came with the system.

What brand/model alarm do you have? The fact that your car unlocks at all means that your wiring should be ok and if both remotes have the same problem then there's probably nothing wrong with the remote batter either. Sounds to me like maybe the programing on was lost on your alarm unit. This can happen if you unplug the car battery for too long on your car(which service centers sometimes do for safty). Fortunately this can be fixed easily, you just need to reprogram your unit. Let me know what you have and I'll see if I can help you find the programing instructions.

The door unlock function requires a double pulse regardless of the add-on system you use. Some aftermarket systems can be programed to automaticly double pulse when you hit the unlock button. See if your's can do that. Otherwise you'll just have to hit the button twice.

SkyonXa is right, our xAs need 2 unlock pulses before they will unlock. Thats why you are having to push the button twice. The Python 460HP can be programed to pulse twice with one button push, this is probably how your alarm was configured by the installer. At some point in time your alarm reverted back to its original "factory" setting of only pulsing once, again this probably happen if you recently unplugged the car battery or had work done on your car.

Ok, now for the fun part. Python(owned by Directed Electronics) doesn't let individual customers have the install guide, but I snagged ya one anyway

(PDF) Python 460hp Install Guide: http://www.sendspace.com/file/1a69eg

Download that PDF and start reading from the bottom of page 14 to page 20. As you will see there is a menu option to set your Python 460HP to single pulse or double pulse(Feature # 2-8 ). You want to set yours to Double Pulse. The process to do this is outlined in the pages I gave you. Try this and let me know how it goes.

I have the same issue, and I don't understand why it requires a double puls from remote, while the door switch sends one on the same wire?

Well its not the remote that sends the pulse, the remote just tells the receiver inside the car to send the pulses to the unlock motor in the door. If the receiver in the car is programed for only 1 pulse, then clicking the remote twice will make the receiver send 2 pulses. Thats why the receiver in the car needs to be programed to send 2 pulses at once, so that you need only click the remote once.

Before I upgraded to the scion security, I had a crappy aftermarket keyless entry installed that for some reason did not do double pulse. But the shop that installed it for me hooked it up by connecting it to the unlock switch in the car, so even though it was a single pulse I could unlock all the doors with just one click. So your right about the unlock switch, really it just depends on how it was installed. Anyways, I'd be happy to help you too. Let me know what alarm brand/model you have.

My aftermarket alarm, a rattler, seemed to be non-responsive a good deal of the time when I was in areas with a lot of electrical interference. Radio towers, high tension lines, etc.

I don't know if my issue was also the LOJACK and the remote starter antenna. I'm not using the remote from the Lojack or the Scion remote, and replacing batteries only works for a short while.

Could be like a cell phone searching for a signal in a low tower area.

Hmmm.

Thank you, SanchezHacker. I have http://www.crimestopper.com/techweb/..._1_ins_ops.pdf , However I get used to it and now it doesn't bothered me at all, furthermore, I think that if someone will try to scan the code the double click would be another layer of protection.

Ps. As far as I remember I connected directly to the door swich, 14IA1 & 15IA1 not to the lock controller. Also I intend it to open only the driver door but it opens them all.
