Default Any experience with lambo or powered doors

Anyone have anything on the swing up or powered doors?

I had to baby sit my elderly parents and each time I had to open and close the doors. Maybe they were trying to give me a hard time, but I thought I would see if the swing up doors were any easy to open/close or if they make powered doors?

Thanks

I'm not a big fan of form over function.

delorean doors were function over form. required less space to full open than normal doors. so its not as cut and dry as you think with some cars

"Lambo" doors on Lamborghinis opened straight up. That was part of the design.
"Lambo" imitation doors open conventionally then hinge up if you push them up

Thanks for the alert about coolness and style, however My elderly parents cant bend over and reach to pull a door shut and I thought after seeing the countless ads in it that it maybe a solution for them.

ANyone actually have one?

the answer is pretty much no dude.

lambo or scissor door hinges installed on doors designed to open normally will not operate any easier or effectively then a normal door.

for one, you'll now need to lift the door UP to get in, and here is the thing, either you'll need to lift open the door yourself, or you'll need a really strong strut to push the door up for you, which means that when you want to close the door, you'll be pulling against the pushing force of that really strong strut.

next up, the door will open vertically, and have to move completely up and forward to clear the path of the door way, if it doesn't, you'll now be bending and sliding around lower part of the door that is now blocking the normal entry into the car itself.

lastly, this is a show car mod, when used on a daily driver, they struts tend to wear out very fast from being opened and closed atleast twice a day, and therefore you will find yourself holding the door up while you get in until you replace the worn out shock.

people get old, they get inflexible and they complain about it. is the problem your car or your parents?

if scissor doors were better for old people, wouldn't buicks and cadillacs come with them?

which is harder? reaching over to close a normal door, or reaching up and grabbing...what a map pocket in the lower portion of the door to pull it down?

if you want something easier, get a minivan with power opena and close sliding doors.

hate them. tried 2-3 of them.. they are wobbling.. feels tacky and the first guy didnt even let me close the doors.

they dont close properly, they sit lower than the hingesso when you close it you have to lift the door up half an inch or two.. if u dont do it properly you will f@# up your hinges, fenders.. etc...

Yeah. They're ____, they're unstable, they're difficult to open. They are definitely purely for show.. and from a distance, at that.

Definitely don't kid yourself that they might be an improvement in any way.

Since you keep getting that warning..I can assume that you check the site more then a couple of times...lol thus the virus probably already infected your system because you did not listen to the warning the first time.

Also required less space to crush your head than conventional doors because the hydraulics often failed in notorious and hilarious fashion.

That Koenigsegg is pure sex. Those doors are a riot, too. For those who can't tell, they open forward on a circular axis; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7NTC4SXiaUo at about 1:10.
