Nice job on the rear rack. Somewhere in my literature that I got when I bought my 06 xA, they say to never install a hitch - even for bikes..
How do you get around this in regards to the warranty?

yeah, the 2006 xA owners manual states:

"Scion does not recommend the installation of a tow hitch or the use of a tow hitch carrier for a wheelchair, scooter, bicycle, etc. Your Scion is not designed for trailer towing or for the use of tow hitch mounted carriers."

i use a hitch mounted bike rack anyway

Ok, and I was thinking of doing the same thing..It's the warranty thing that stops me. How do you get around that?

3xv,

That hitch does look nice. It's hardly noticeable. Definitely doesn't detract from the car.

I'm still deciding between the Honda Fit and Scion xA. The Honda Fit has a bigger hatch area, but the only thing I really think I'd ever need a large back for is my bicycle. Since the hitch doesn't look bad, that is a very doable solution. I'd rather get the xA just because it looks alot better.

Thanks for the information.

and the hitch is easy to install - no drilling necessay
you just remove the shipping tie-downs and bolt the hitch up where the tie-downs were
the hardest part is dropping the tailpipe to get the hitch above it
