Ive read reviews about the brake petal feel in the scion and yaris and read some here. I tried the reverse brake stomping technique on a quiet road, but no luck. I took my car in for its 5000 mile check up and it was returned with a firm brake petal. They claimed nothing was wrong with it and it was because of the toyota system of braking assist.

 

on my old car i had that happen too me and it was because of the master cylinder went bad kind of scary that you can't stop on a dime and you have to slow down with all the down shifts
