Default Cheap place for genuine Scion/Toyota parts?

I’m ready to take on swapping out the rear engine mount but it’s a bit pricey and then the dealers tack on $21 for shipping! Anyone found a reliable (not eBay) source for genuine Toyota parts on the cheap?

289,800 original miles 2005 Xa.

If you can wait, a lot of dealership networks have sales 2-3 times a year. I was able to score all 3 mounts from Serra Toyota in Decatur for right under $200 shipped ($54 for just the rear) - they didn't even charge me for taxes! This was in March of 2022. I believe southwest Toyota dealerships are having a free shipping event for purchases over $75, but no extra discounts for now. Get a list together and be patient. It's a tough pill to swallow to pay full price for original parts for our cars that are almost 2 decades old, but when they go on sale, it's a no brainer.

Thank you! I’ve lived with the shaking for many many years so I’m not in a hurry.

Polyurethane Engine Mounts

I actually just got new engine mounts for my 06 xA, but I bought stiffer polyurethane engine mounts that are technically for an 04-06 xB. The rear mount is a lot harder to install, and since I needed it done correctly and fast, I got them installed by a mechanic at his shop. These mounts are just the polyurethane inserts that you replace into the original oem mounting places, in place of the oem rubber inserts. They fit perfect, but it does cause a lot of noise and vibration in the cabin (all polyurethane inserts do, as they keep the engine completely still when idling and driving) so if you're ok with that, these mounts are a lot better and last a lot longer than rubber ones. I believe they cost $100 for the mounts with shipping, so if that's something you're up for it's an option. I'll post an update in 3 months on how these mounts are doing and if I've gotten used to feeling more of the engine when driving. I found these on the fast scion's website and also the AutoZone website. If u want pictures of the rear or side mounts I can send em.

Good morning,

I appreciate the input and alternative. It is however the vibration and cabin noise (in gear, brake applied) that I’m seeking to eliminate. Everything I’ve read points to Scion genuine parts as being the only set of mounts that last.

The shaking doesn’t bother me however this car will go to my daughter at some point once she gets her license.

#1) The car has 289,000 miles on it's original motor mount......if you honestly believe that a genuine Toyota motor mount will carry that car another 289,000 for total vehicle mileage of 578,000 miles, then by all means spend the bucks to get a genuine part.

On the other hand.....

#2) Buy a cheaper part and put the savings towards something else which the car may need. Or save that money for future vehicle expenditures.

Another option is.....

#3) Give the kid the car as-is and let him/her drive it as-is. My first car was a beat up, 1981 Camaro z28 with a manual transmission. A/C didn't work. Glass roof panels leaked water when it rained. Interior cloth was falling apart. The exhaust was so loud it sounded like a freight train driving thru your bedroom at 10:00 in the evening........but I tell you this, that POS Camaro (in the condition it was in) made me pay closer attention to how I was driving. Kids these days have so many distractions........Kids these days are like: OH MY GOD, SOMEBODY REACTED TO MY TWEET, I GOTTA REACT BACK. I GOTTA COMMENT ASAP. I GOTTA SCREENSHOT THIS AND POST IT ON FB. LOL. HEE, HEE.....DAMN IT, I WISH THE RED LIGHT WOULD STAY RED LONGER SO I HAVE MORE TIME TO TYPE INSTEAD OF DRIVE.
