Default Daughter Crashed Her xA Today/Not Her Fault (Pics)

Well my daughter took a road trip to Flagstaff today with her boyfriend
in her xA this morning...They were driving along at approximately 40mph through a green light when a couple from France driving a rental car turned left right in front of her...My daughter slammed on the brakes and swerved to try miss them but they still collided and this is the conclusion...My daughter and her boyfriend are ok just shaken up quite alot...Thank God they were wearing their seatbelts...The couple from France went to the hospital, one had a boken wrist and some leg injuries...The couple from France were obviously at fault and the driver did get a ticket...The Flagstaff police officer was really cool and helpful...Anyways, I had to take a drive up there today to go and pick them my daughter and her boyfriend and also went to the tow yard to look at her vehicle...(Boy was the weather nice)...I would say the xA is a total loss...Both airbags deployed...Now it looks like there is only (2) Scions left in our family Here are the pics of the poor xA and the other car, a brand new Chevy Malibu...BTW, I think the xA help up quite well considering the damage to the Malibu:

Glad your daughter is ok!
I'm surprised the xA held up pretty well considering the malibu is a freaking boat.
+1 for the xA...0 for the malibu!

You forget that you don't want the car to hold up in a crash like this, the more things crush and bend the better, less of that impact makes it to your person. Glad everyone was ok for the most part, same thing happened to my brother and I a while back in a 95 gs300. A hummer H3 pulled out in front of us, luckily my bro swerved enough to just hit the h3 tire at an angle and pretty much bounce off, car was totaled, but not a scratch on anyone.

Good thing the impact was at her fender and not the door, hope the French couple had renter's insurance! BTW, looks like someone scooped up the front grille badge quick.

The more & more I see Scion accident photos......

The more I believe we're driving around in WWII Japanese tanks. No joke! :D

Good to know your daughter is okay. You think she'll go buy another Scion if its totalled?

It's up to her but I hope she does...We have had (4) Scions and never had a problem...And after seeing how well they hold up I would definately recommend them...

Yea we scooped the front and rear badges...I talked with the insurance company and i asked if they totalled it if I could remove some aftermarket things from it and he said that we could as long as we put the stock pieces/parts back in...So we are going to take out the deck, maybe the (3) good rims, cathodes, floormats...

I'm glad to see your daughter is okay also. It gives me some comfort that my xA would do okay if I ever end up in a crash *crosses fingers*

You guys are funny talking about how there's only 8 xA's in existence...there must be ATLEAST 9, if you include mine... haha

Update:

Got a call from the adjuster...Total damage was $9100.00 (frame was bent) so obviously they are going to total out the vehicle...I will find out Monday what fair market value is for this vehicle...

remember, if you carry collision coverage with your carrier on that scion, then you can make a claim on your own policy and see how much money they'll offer you for the car because depending on what evaluation method they use, it may be higher or lower than what the at-fault carrier is offering you. and you're free to take whichever offer is higher.

you pay your deductible, but you will get that back from the at-fault insurance carrier, who will also have to pay your insurance company back for the damages they covered, so it won't count on an at-fault accident on your policy.

Thats exactly what happened...My insurance wants to take care of us quickly so they are taking care of everything and then they will go after the rental car company...So far I am vary happy with my insurance company and they way they are handling it...Should be getting a check soon...

Unfortunately, daughter wants out of the Scion brand and since she's 18 and will be buying her own car I have to let her make her own decisions...I wished she would buy another Scion but oh well...
