Default Dual Moonroof for XA

Hey everybody!! Has anyone modify their XA with Dual Sunroofs. I purchased my 2006 XA & it will be arrving in the country in 2 weeks. I asked my the dealer, they said they can get it done for $1595.00. It's that reasonable or are they f**king crazy.

I need feedback here.

The only xA I've seen with dual sunroof was the yellow widebody.

Mine came with a sunroof. I don't think I would want one in the back. If I forget to close the shade the car heats up pretty bad.

LOL, I can see that heat issue but i want the Dual Sunroof also I can't say if that price is crazy but I think if it's done well so there are no leaks later than it's a decent price.

+1 on the price, that doesn't sound bad for QUALITY work. But there is a lot that has to be done for it to be quality, a lot of reenforcing.

You can spend over 1K on a sunroof to begin with if you want "Quality" or a certain type if it will even fit the xA right with 2 of them. Only the moonroof I saw can do this well enough but if not installed well in a year or so you will get leaks in the rain. Thus finding a place that you can "trust" to install it right.

Ditto... I'd be worried about structural integrity with one moonroof, let alone two. Ya gotta remember that these cars aren't designed with a sunroof/moonroof in mind so when the shop starts cutting into the roof they may be cutting through cross bracing that can affect the roof's integrity; in event of a rollover the roof may be more prone to collapse than an intact roof.

Of course this is all complete hearsay as I've never seen a schematic of the xA's structure to know where the reinforcements are for the xA's roof.

I saw one on the Represent site - I thought that was the $h1t until I saw Webasto's panoramic sunroof. Ooh - If only I had $1695 to throw in the wind...

The Scion xA came with a sunroof at one point.

Webasto are the only Sunroof/moon roofs that have been really recommended over and over. But what I have been told is only the one that goes under/inside not the ones Waitech is talking about. The ones Waitech is talking about are thinner and need a more quality install to make sure the seals are good caus there are complaints of leaks after a year or so.

Also it's not done at the manufacturing plant so they really need to know what they are doing.

Heh, yeah it makes me want to get the fab kit and roof. But I am gonna wait on the kit to see what comes out in the next 6 months. Not sure about that particular sunroof though. Big and bulky to me.

Sort of actually makes your point more valid. Maybe they had to reinforce it for the RS1 and it cost to much to manufacture for Toyota to keep the xA price tag. Good reason to ask Webasto and Scion about this "before getting one put on.

I don't know about reinforcement, but I do know it's the only xA that came with VSC & TRAC control (all those blobbo top-heavy xB's have them - god I hope no xB owners read this and start a flame war ).

that's what I was talking about, yeah. You need the Wireing diagram and some other stuff, but the ECU already has the controls for it...
