Default Extended Warranty cost for 06 xA

What should one expect to pay for an EW on a 06 xA? Is it worth the time to shop around different Toyota dealerships?

There is a news item on Yahoo news right now about extended warranties.
The item is listed as The 7 Most money Making things the Dealer does.
EW are one thing. This article recommends not getting one.

My insurance company tried to sell me a extended warranty on my 06 xA and i said no. I bought with confidence that my vehicle is made by one of the top 3 auto makers on the planet. With good driving habits and proper maintainance i hope to get 200k out of my gas sipper. Or it will hold its value and be a great trade in. Welcome to the club.

I have been told that if anything fails it will usually fail within the first 3 years, and anything that fails after that is usually a result of neglect or lack of preventive maintance, However usually banks will offer a lower cost EW, mine offered me one on my tc, i cannot remeber how much it was but it was much less then the dealer.
All i can say is preventive maintance and take care of your car and it should last many years.
One thing alot of people over look is changing the hoses, and all the other fluids besides the oil. Trans, brake, coolant are all things that need to be checked and maintained. I belive the manual has recomended intervals and what needs to be done and when.

Just because it's profitable, that alone doesn't make it bad. At my dealership, for 1100 bucks, you can get a 7yr/100k warranty that covers everything not made of rubber or vinal with zero deductable and zero out of pocket expenses.

What you want to avoid are warranties that require you to pay for the service and then have someone evaluate whether or not it will be covered, and then issue a refund check. Those kind suck. Those are also typically the kind that finance companies sell.

It's just like everything else, you have to evaluate all the pros and cons, compare it to others like it, and then decide if it's worth it to you. Personally, I have a Murphy cloud that hangs over me, so I would buy the warranty, just to make sure that nothing goes wrong ;)

I am with sciono on this... over the years that I am financing, the $1100 will not be seen....but if I had to come up with the cash to get a new water pump right now, I might not be able to do that...

yeah, 1100 for a EW is not bad, and it is worth it in all reality. ONe thing to check is if the warranty can be cancelled if the car is sold........
also if you buy a domestic defintley buy a EW, the denali i sold i transfered the warranty to the new owner, at 26,200 miles the whole dash lighting and center cluster failed, it would have cost over 1200.00 to fix it, but it was under a extended warranty and was paid for.

what scionofpcfl said is right.....read the fine print and get the warranty that pays up front, has no deductable and some will even allow you to take it to your mechanic etc.

If i could contribute my 2 cents...

You don't have to purchase the Extended Warranty when you purchase the car. You have up until 364 days or 35999 miles to make a decision. Also, you don't have to purchase the Toyota Platinum or Gold warranty through the dealer you bought the car from. Furthermore, the price can very by as much as $200 - $300 from one dealer to the next!!!

We bought our 2004 Sienna from one dealer. Then purchased the EW from another dealer over the phone with a credit card for a much lower price. We never even met the salesman.

Despite Toyota reliability, we bought the EW for our Sienna because of the Rear DVD Entertainment, Navigation System and other high end options that Toyota doesn't manufacture and may fail!

Do a search on Warranties at SiennaClub.org to find the best prices and contacts.

I got 100k/10 year warranty for mine...It was not even 1,100. It's 5.00 dollars a month added to my car loan amount. It covers about 90% of the car except for usual basic wear and tear repairs like changing tires. Hell, my CD player is even covered believe it or not...it's in the fine print if you guys look into it. Then of course if I'm traveling...and my car needs to be fixed. Toyota will actually reinburst my hotel/motel bill for three days and two of the meals for each day.

With a 5 year loan, why wouldn't you pay for at least the 6 years?
$875 through Toyota
