Default Featured Scion 05.12: Psycho565's Two-Tone xA

[col:99d91e88ba]Psycho565's Two-Tone xA

Ryan Smith bought a Scion xA because it was something far from ordinary. "I first saw an ad for Scion on a billboard here in downtown San Diego in 2003 when Scion was just a fledgling and was intrigued as to what a Scion was. Soon after Scion exploded across the country and I started my two-year moneysaving grinchiness, with my heart set on it."

Finally, in December of 2004, he had enough money and his parents happened across a PGP xA at a car tent sale. Needless to say he bought it that day. Soon after, piece by piece starting in May with the bodykit and June with the two-tone, his xA has become a DIY creativity project, attempting to capture the essence that is Scion: Personality.

"Before the xA I was driving around in a 1979 Chrysler LeBaron SE. The thing was a boat! It always had problems to boot: within the first week my father and I had to flush out the radiator because it had sat in some little old lady's garage for so long gathering rust. The only good thing about the car is how unique it was, being a giant red boat with spoked hubcaps and a nice furry red interior. I always got looks going down the street, which is when I knew I wanted to always drive a unique automobile."

As for future modifications, Ryan plan to find some sponsors to help put the finishing touches on the car. He and his father have painted and done the work on just about everything. Next would have to be a fabric upgrade, replacing the overhead with a black color and painting the inside pillars Kopper. And he is currently waiting on some Koni yellow shocks on backorder.

Ryan gets a kick out of the looks and questions he get from the elderly. They just don't know what to make of the car or what exactly to call it. They first ask him, "what is it?" and he replies, "A Scion" which prompts the usual "So who makes it?" followed by a big sigh when he mention Toyota makes it.

"It's definitely a head turner and best of all, every time I sit in my xA I smile to myself and think how fortunate I am."

^^ Yeah, I can recognize the Coronado Bridge, Pesideo Park, and the Q.... Man, I want to check out some of these meets so bad, but I am still not able to walk on my own due to a broken leg <- Don't ask....

I bought my car at SCV.

But I heard that SE has a meet at Scion Chula Vista like every first Sat of the month (or something like that)..... Are you gonna put up some pics afterwards?
