Exclamation HELP ASAP Blinking red temperature light

So yesterday my wife was driving from work and told me that the Battery light was on, and the temperature light was blinking red.

When she got him i checked it out and the Com. Alt. Water belt had snapped. So that had explained why the Battery light was on and etc....

But today after putting the new belt and car was running fine; she calls me saying that the temperature light was blinking red again but got to work fine and the car was running normal.

I check the coolant level and everything is fine and all. I don't know what else could it be.

Has anyone else had this issue any help will do!

Thanks

water pump is my guess as well. check to see if they pulley on the water pump is frozen, which could be what caused the belt to break as well.

Ok i will check the water pump then and work from there.

Funny thing is that the light isn't blinking anymore.... not sure whats up.

If not then i also think it might be the sensor.

Thanks guys will update

Default Belt issues

I, too, had a problem with my Scion. For months the belt had been screeching, especially in extreme cold weather. One night on the way home the battery, temp, and check engine lights lit suddenly all at the same time on the dash, and I lost heat. Took it ito a mechanic and both belts needed replacing; the serpentine belt had snapped completely due to rot and moisture. Not a surprise since my engine has 104k miles. Mechanic replaced both belts and reset the dash and now everything works fine. Hope this helps.
