Default SCOTTbart you inspire me ....

Way to go on racking up over 250,000. I am new to the forum and just bought a 05 Xa with 55k on it. Took it in to my mechanic and had the 55k service done plus front brake pads and rotors. But I am pumped to think if well maintained I could go over 250k on it. My old Previa van had 225k on it before the frame gave out. I do love me some Yota ! ! !

PS sounds like doing the plugs at 60k is a no brainier...its going on my to do list .....

04 auto with 108,xxxx. so far from what my wife has told me before we got together since she bought it in 2006 are

1. stupid teenage girl driving + dirt road + ditches and fences = wreck and total undercarriage destruction.
2. 2 years later had the cat replaced
3. a year later had the brakes done
4. since we've been together i have had the coolant flushed, a few oil changes, a set of tires, plugs, alignment, belts, hoses and 1 motor mount
5. needs 2 other motor mounts replaced, a/c serviced

over all, been a great town car. not so good for trips with no cruise and not alot of power for pulling hills. planning on keeping it forever

175,000 on my xA. Hope for many more, especially since I intend to give it to my sister in a year or so. Just replaced my secondary oxygen sensor. Very low maintenance costs.

I'm at 287,500. Water pump (190,000). Changed the alternator (255,000), and starter (270,000). All were easy and cheap. Changed a wheel bearing (225,000 or so) Otherwise just routine maintenance.

My 05 xA has 118,462 had it 30K and love it. So far I've got a Fujita short ram converted to CAI, throttle spacer, home made axle back using a Twiploop eBay muffler I had on my Subaru I blew up before I found this gem, and Exedy Stage 1 clutch,
the clutch was slipping when I bought it, and a ground wire kit DIY I saw on here. I've been a long time reader of SL and I'm always reading reviews and how to's I try to do all my own work, cant wait to have more done so I can start writing reviews.

it's a 2" drop all around, the most you can get off of springs.

because we drive our cars... mine has been from NM to SC and back about 4 times, from SC to Mem, TN and back like 6 times... Down to Orlando and back once. All while getting around 40 mpg (oh yeah!) considering I was loaded and have 200lbs of bass in my trunk. Plus I take my car to A LOT of car shows... I'll be up at the Flawless Fitment meet in Mooresville, NC if anyone's gonna be there!

I only have 81k on an '06 though. 80% highway miles.

I'm pretty sure our cars have timing chains that normally don't need replacing. I had a Toyota Pickup truck with timing chain and it went about 220K miles with the original timing chain before I sold it.

Hi there,

Ran into this site while looking for possible impending issues on my new-to-me 38K 2006 Scion xA (woot!). Seems like there aren't many issue, which is questioning my otherwise seemingly very adult decision to purchase the extended warranty (3/36 for $1180/200 deductible).
I'm starting to feel like I've been had. I've read the extended warranty thread but the last post was in 2007, so i thought i would get some current feedback in regards to frequent xA problems and the likelihood of needing an extended warranty.

Thanks in advance!
Danielle

I'd feel "had" too. Your Scion should be like new with so few miles on it. Mine still runs like new with over 100,000 miles and I'm still averaging 33 to 36 mpg. Great little car, hope you enjoy yours.

233,000 miles on 2005 xA with auto transmission.

Over the life of it, I have replaced two ignition coils and one rear wheel bearing. Best car I have ever owned.

I hope someone didn't talk you into that. The xA has a chain and doesn't need to be replaced.
