Default just bought a used scion xa

I bought this car used for 8,000 and it has 12k miles on it. I've wanted an xa for a while and the only one that I could afford was used. It has been wonderful so far and the only strange thing that I notice is a loud "wind thumping" sound when one of the back windows is open. Does anyone else have the same sound? Otherwise it has been one of the greatest buys of all time.

I had no idea that being a scion owner came with a whole lifestyle. I really love it. this is the first car that I have ever taken any amount of pride in. I see why people get into this so much. I should thank the youth advertising aslo. They got me!

the seller was moving to boston and only wanted to take his two other cars. He origionally wanted 10,000 but decided to give me a great deal because he thought I was a good kid or something.

question - they will still honor the warranty correct?

I think the wind noise thing is typical. When only my back windows are open, mine has that same deep rumble. So I just make sure not to have only the back windows open.

Congrats on a great deal!

The sound is called wind buffeting. Google to find more info!

Welcome, and congrats!

The wind noise may just be your back seat belts thumping against the side in your car. I know that happened to me once. Then I put the belts in the 'tie down' thing that is back there, on each side of the car, near the belts. No more problem.

That is one possible reason.

yeah, the wind sound is a b*tch. I don't have an xA (yet!.. soon though.) But my mom has a Toyota 2004 Highlander and it makes the chopping sound like a helicopter. It hurts my ears so bad sometimes haha. But yeah like people said, it's easily fixed by opening other windows.
