Default Maintenance required - how to turn it off

Hello,
I got once this sign (maint. required) turned on. Toyota technician turned it off somehow, he said it automatically turns on to warn the driver it's almost time to change oil.
After that it turned on again and I changed oil twice since that time and it is still lit.
Any ideas?
Thanks

turn key to off position
hold down trip/odo button
while holding turn key to accessory postion (second click)
do not start the car
the trip/odo will display this: _ _ _ _ _
the lines will go away one per second
once the lines have cleared the light is reset

One more question:
I changed yesterday oil myself - first time. I did everything as it was said in one of the topics below.
Today i noticed the gas pedal doesnt react as fast as it was before - it goes down a bit with no reaction and then it like 'remembers' it has to accelerate and it runs...

I can not think of any way your pedal problem could be related to the oil change. Check your oil level, it should have taken 3.8 qts. Make sure the oil cap is on correctly. Check the filter and drain plug for leaks. Did you use the correct wieght of oil?

one of the guys said here https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=199888 "and our cars use 3.9 quarts of oil so just put in 4 quarts of oil will not hurt our engines what so ever"

Another one said in the same topic it needs 3.7 quarts...

Since i dont have manual can you tell me what it says???

Thank you
