Default Makes you not wanna drive it anymore :(

Soo, last Monday I was installing my Nexus XM car adapter when I noticed this:

I know, I know, it's dirty but I don't have time to wash it .

I'm so glad I don't know who did this, because even though I'm not a violent person, when I saw this blood boiled in my veins . It didn't even have a thousand miles on it .

Now a standard "What should I do?" question:

a. should I try to touch it up myself (the cheapest option)
b. go to a body shop and shell out a few hundred $$$ (anyone can recommend a good place in Elgin, IL area?)
c. Go through my insurance and hope it falls under the 'comprehensive' coverage, for which I have only $200 deductible.

Any ideas?

EDIT: You can't really see it on the pictures but this area is dented and that's why the paint fell off. It's not a simple scratch. Once again I'm looking for ideas what do to, how much it will cost and for recommendations for a good body shop in my area (NW suburbs of Chicago).

To do this much damage I would have to hit one BIG ___ rock IMHO. I think someone backed up into my car on the parking lot. Or some ____ed of lady with high heels .

And no, I don't know anyone, that's why I'm looking for recommendations .

I would say that you now have no choice but to get a carbon fiber hood.

Check out local "paintless dent repair" or tint shops. They can get the dent out with dryice and heat gun, you can get touchup paint and clear coat and fix chip your self..... shouldn't cost more than $30 for dent repair plus touch-up paint from dealer

OR just cover with hood bra from dealer, $? 60bucks or so

that solution wouldnt look good enough to ease the pain. plus white isnt very forgiving to even color matched touch up paint.

*caution* pics viewed on mobile devices look white.

Still touch up paint is tricky in a spot like that. isnt like it was a rock chip or tiny scratch.

OK guys, I just came back from a good body shop with my quote. They estimated $466.40 and this is 'lower' rate, because I got referred by my insurance agent.

Now, even though I never really liked CF hoods, I will probably have to consider this option. I heard a few bad things about carbon fiber hoods, especially that they tend to fade over time. If anyone had a CF hood for a while and can recommend some good online stores / manufacturers, that would be awesome. Also, how's the installation? Do you have to have it professionally installed and aligned or can you just do it yourself?

Thanks,
- Kam

I have the bbist.com CF hood it looks as good as day 1 and thats about a year and a half. You can install it yourself easy, but it helps to have someone hold one side while you screw the other. unless you have crazy long arms.

I have a few..or should say quite a lot of damages on the driver side of my car.

A stupid damn golf ball hit the top of my car so I have this dent on the driver's side. I couldn't find out that bastard that hit the ball on the streets...next time if a golf ball hit my car again, I am going to drive into the grass and find that bastard and beat the ____ out of him. Near my gas cap has another dent a little smaller than the golf one. On the right side of my bumper has a slight scratch but touch up paint should deal with that. Speaking of which, I need to find a small can of touch up paint for my car.

Then my fender got a huge scratch and dent and my driver door got a few scratches and my side mirror is broken. I had to duc tape that thing...this was through an accident and to get it fix is going to cost me $3,000

AAARG! You guys stop stealing my antenna!

I haven't looked alot for scion CF stuff but I have a Seibon CF hood for my s2000 and it is STRIKINGLY hot. The fitment is great and I got a vented one to keep the engine cooler, not that the xa produces mad amounts of engine heat. (just checked and seibon doesnt make xa stuff)

It looks like the VIS for $499 shipped then.

I'd go cf, worst you have to worry about is the clear yellowing after a few years, but you can scuff it with some thousand grit and buff it out, worst case scenario, you have to have it recleared after 4 or 5 years
