Default Maximum xA Power with no $$$ restrictions

Not that I would, but what is the general consensus about the maximum HP possible out of the 1.5L xA powerplant?

I know the CAI gives a little, but would a turbo, header, etc be worth the $$$?

I am not too savy about engine mods, but I wouldn't mind saving up for a truly worthwhile significant mod.

Thanks for the input

Turbo would get the most but I know a guy who's blown a few engines running one at full capacity. If you want stable gains go with the super charger. The CAI, lightwieght pulley, headers and exhaust are the most done and easiest gains. I would suggest investing in light wieght wheels as well.

Thanks for the input.

How much HP should I expect to get from the supercharger? How much $$$ and what does that do to the fuel economy.

Sorry for the onslaught of questions, but I am a newbie (in many xA ways) so your info is greatly appreciated.

ok, most superchargers claim to add another 40hp, there's 2 dependable ones that people run, Blitz and Greddy. They run about $2500 but I know a few used ones are out there. As for fuel economy, the Blitz SC will net you more miles because it replaces the intake manifold and lets more air in, but you'll have to run premium gas. And with the SC you can still do all the stuff listed above.

what if I don't have the $25K to spend but several hundred, would the Injen CAI be the best bet for increased HP and higher mpg?

Well I think with the Cold Air Intake, Header and exhaust I have gained over 15hp no problem, MAYBE 20, MAYBE. Most HP has come from the CAI and header. but deciding if it's worth the upgrades and investment is up to you.

There's a huge thread on getting more from the xA. The bottom line was 12whp with I/H/E. No one has cracked the ECU at this point. In the testing there was some gains but the ECU quickly learned to defeat them.

The M2 header has a proven 11hp gain "solo" and I can say for a fact that I had a noticeable gain when I just had the CAI. So it's more than 12 for sure. I noticed not much gain right away from the header compared to the CAI. Maybe it's the combo, I dunno.

PS: I can't be sure of anything really. It's all speculation and guessing since I can only "feel" the difference.

The MMW header dyno runs were done after they installed an intake and exhaust. The thread that proved 12whp used a DC 4-1 header so I'm guessing with the MMW header, intake and exhaust use should get about 15whp.

INFINI, one thing you need to keep in mind is our cars weigh NOTHING! I came out of a 2000 Monte Carlo with full borla cat-back, thrasher cai box, reflashed ecu by DHP, coil packs, wires, b&m shift kit and a few other goodies. My exhasut alone on my car added about 18whp due to a very restrictive system, while my CAI on my xA gained about 3hp...but the increase in "feel" was about the same for both.

...the point im getting at is that even a 10hp gain in our cars may feel like 30 in something else, which is probably where you got that 20hp number from.

either way, nice setup.

actually...i hate to break it to you...and anyone else that see's this. When you buy a mod...it doesn't give you the 8-12 hp it claims to give. In reality, its more like 3-5. Sucks huh
