Default neat features you came across on the '05 xa

i don't know if there was a thread on this topic already. if there was, my apology.

-low beam and hi beam are both on if you flix the stark halfway (first click). push the stark all the way to activate hi beam only.

-the inside rear view mirror can be adjusted up and down. i am somewhat tall and found the mirror always was in my view of vision. now.. no more.

anyone else found other nifty feature?

This rocket scientist discovered a surprising feature available in his xA that was so unbelievable he shared it with all of us.

Doesn't mean you have to be a jerk about it.

Nice of you to share, ecandlcubed. I'll check it out the next time I happen to be sitting in a newer xA.

that heel toe downshifting is pretty damn good in the stock pedals. My girlfriends uncle's Saleen Mustangs's pedals have a ____ty placement so no matter how much you tweak your ankle or how far to the right you place the ball ofyour foot on the brake pad...you just can't (or barely), and it's a sports car....USDM...go figure

Really? I can't seem to position my foot right in this car to heeltoe. Maybe I just need someone to show me. I'm dying to learn. Some things just can't be learned from books.

The gas pedal is a bit low so unless you're under hard braking, you'll have to turn your body a bit more than most cars. Right hand corners can get pretty frustrating ^^;

I modified a pedal set to lift the gas pedal a bit for easier heel-toe. That way I don't have to twist my body so much just to reach the gas.

well hmm how can I explain this....well....alright here's the pedal (split into thirds) [ I I ] I position the ball of my right foot here [ I I*], remember heel-toe isnt exactly heel toe, alot of people do it differently, some people use the ball of their foot and the area around thier heel and some people do it with the ball of thier foot and the side of thier heel area...u know this is hard to explain...I guess I can show you some pics...if I can get them onto my PC...

Forgive my ignorance, but what is "heel-toe"?

Heel-Toe Downshifting is an excellent way to "fly" through the corners at high rates of speed while keeping the engine in a optimal power band.

Check out this link on heel-toe shifting:

I'm not even going to begin describing how it's done because I would probably get you confused. It takes a lot of practice to get right and in my case can be a bit tricky if you have big feet. I can tell you once you do it a few times it become an awesome experience to rocket through corners while maintaining engine RPM's for a fast "getaway".

take your time though, and dont expect to learn it in a mater of minutes, even hours, maybe even a few days....the concept isnt hard at all, but its the timing of the downshift, blip, and clutch out. Im still learning and perfecting it but I'm getting there. My biggest problem was that I'd downshift to lets say 3rd to 2nd and once I got to second then I'd blip. You have to blip like right as your stick enters neutral, sounds easy but for me...easier said than done. and also finding the right amount of revs so you dont lurch forward when clutching out can be hard too

Dude, he started a thread because he "discovered" that the Mute button on his head unit would mute his head unit! Are you kidding me? I looked at the dash of my xA and I can't find a single thing that is nearly as straightforward as that.

I could buy that somebody might somehow not know that "A/C" stands for "Air Conditioning" or even that "Pwr" stands for "Power", but to somehow not know that a "Mute" button on a stereo is going to "Mute" the stereo if you push it is beyond comprehension.

You can call me a jerk if you want to, but I'll still feel that post was ridiculous.

I didn't "find" this myself, but the discovery that there was a cabin air filter in the xA (or, at least, a place for a cabin air filter) was a nice discovery.

The ability to change the stereo settings from "tC to xB to xA" was also a great hidden feature that clearly the guys at my Toyota dealership weren't even aware of (or were too lazy to bother with)

That is a special feature so the Dealer to rape you on under dash lighting, if you could see the floor you wouldn't have to pay extra to see the floor. For that mater if you could see the cup holders you wouldn't pay exter for that either.

The thing that puzzles me is that there is a provision for a light for the cigarette lighter, and no wiring for one. Will that be the next overpriced lighting option?

From what I was told, some car manufacturers are not advocates of smoking, and as such do not include the peripherals to assist in such past times.

Maybe so, but it would still be nice to be able to find the socket if you want to charge your cell, or plug in your GPS, or whatever you might want to plug in. Truth is that I was shocked to find a real lighter and ash tray in the car myself.

I actualy found something that wasn't straight forward. The other day it wained here so I had to use the defrost on my way to work. No big deal I twist the heater **** to Defog then hit the A/C button, hit the rear defof and roll out.

Well at the end of the day I leave work, and have the A/C off now because it is kinda nice out so I just turn on the fan to get some air moveing in the car and I notice it is cold like the A/C is on. It took me a few minuits of thinking something was wrong with the A/C system to think maybe if I turn from Defrost to Vent. Well, boom the A/C kicked.

Hmmm I haven't seen a Japanese car that did the kick on the A/C to dry the air in the car and clear the windows trick all by itself ever before. Now that was an unknown feature that is helpful to know about.
