A new ABC show to have SCION as an advertiser... and needs U
Hi there,
I'm producing a talk show on late-night ABC and we are looking to feature SCION as part of the show as an advertiser/sponsor. We pitched them a pretty outside the box buzzmarketing type of idea --- and since the talk show is hosted by a 21-year-old, we figured the GEN Y feel of SCION would align exactly with what the 21-year-old is doing.
The show is edgy, irreverent and seeks to take the traditional late night formula and turn it on its head --- not dissimilar to the way SCION has done so with the car industry.
So I'm looking for thoughts - thoughts from SCION users... thoughts of why SCION stands out, what makes it different, or perhaps even what kind of TV/internet and multi-media campaign you would build around the SCION brand, having used and owned one...

scion is unique cause it spends a ton of money sponsoring what's "in" for gen y and it's "underground"...
and instead of converting those skaters and fixie riding ppl to buying a scion....they end up with a totally different demographic of ppl buying their cars.

I don't think scion needs to advertise their cars. Some guy at work, he was probably about 40, said his boss suggested that he buy a scion. So, the name is out there. People know about it. If this 40 yr old guy knows what scion is and how to pronounce the name and all. I was surprised, most people still don't know about them. Just to show the age of the group that buys them, 20-50 age group. That's all they need (scion). Just some dedicated loyalists to the brand. Like me.
I don't think scion should be on tv either. Wouldn't want to associate them with whatever is said or done on the show either. Like "that's that car on that guys show!". I don't see it happening. I don't like the idea. I like the way their advertising is now, "undercover". It works.
yeah i agree with superboxcarxb.. the advertising is good the way it is now. i dont really want it to take off and become like ford, where theres a mustang on every corner of every parking lot in town. An occasional tv or magazine add and we are good to go.

A comercial in which shows an evolution of the Toyota line - 70's (say a Celica) , into 80's( say a Supra), into 1990's which would include the Lexus line(say a MR2/Supra turbo + Lexus LS 400, SC400 ... TRD making its presence) ... then into 2000+ (Tundra/Tacoma evolution , Lexus GS, IS line ) ....... picking up the rear at the end of the commercial(probably only lasting 30 sec.) would be a flash of Scion(the big 3) ... so each era only has 10 seconds to do its thing . If its put togther right.. it would be stunning. Toyota's got to top that "Honda- Evironmentology" - BS add campain going around - where is that Civic that runs off of Hydrogen cell ??- 5-10 years off ??
Its actually an evolution of a auto manufacture that should be captured- and would probably get way more AWWWWss by viewers , and to see a 3-tiered auto manufacture stratification that really captures all consumer pricing levels, in a 30 year evolution happen in a 30 second commercial would be dope!
