Default Optima Red top in the xA/xB

Ok, I just bought my Optima 25 red top and have installed it. First off, I love it. Second, I needed to put in washers & nuts for each side of the batter tie down. Does anyone have a better idea for a tie down? the Optima is about an inch shorter than the stock battery and causes this ghettofied (not raggin on the ghetto) problem under my hood and I want something more...... stable... better... know what I'm saying.

Instead of using washers. Cut the tie downs shorter and put a new bend where it needs to be and keep it looking right.

I bought mine at costco and it came with a spacer to make the battery taller just for these instances. The battery sites on top of it. So you don't see it really. Where ever you got it should have had it too.

I thought about this already, the tie downs don't have extra any more threads to screw down further. I was looking around at work for something to add more threads to the tie down, but no luck so far.

I've asked the sales rep ( @ Interstate Batteries ) that I bought it from and he said that it did not come with a spacer. He is looking around at his work for one, but he said that those things are not usually kept around.

I meant remove a portion of the lower section. Not the threaded part. Then duplicate the part you cut off and leave the threaded sections alone.

go to ebay and get a battery tie down made for the red top optima. I got one for my blue top that is tied down at the bottom of the battery with a clamp system. doesn't even have a cross bar piece.

I believe I got it at the Chino Hills one. I work for Costco and actually handle the ordering of batteries. So let me know which one is close to you and I can tell you if the one next to you has them. Also The one we carry is exactly the same as the one simply red bought except it has side poles on it plus the top poles. The is also why I asked him to PM me because I deal with the manufacture daily and I may be able to get him a spacer regardless if he bought it as costco or not.

I have that same battery and I got it from Autozone. Mine totally came with a spacer. It was attached to the top of the battery.. You turned it over and bam! Spacer...
Have you tried getting contacting Optima Directly? They could probably find you one, I would think..
