personal odometer recalibration?
Maybe its just me, but lately there has been a lot of talk in our state-Pa.- and nationally about taxing people on the miles they drive. I just wonder if anyone out there has been having the same thoughts I have- recalibrating our odometers to minimize the actual shown miles? In the 70's you could disconnect the mechanical drive mechanism, so you could theoretically drive all you wanted and show little to no miles, or so I have heard. Now a days I am sure the process is electronic, but is such an idea feasible, and can this be done. Come on all you geniuses, looking for ideas.
you can't, it is all recorded in the cars ECU, which is what runs basically the entire car.
if you really wanted to trick them, you could just find buy another ECU from a junkyard or whatever and swap it in whenever you go to get it checked out.

Good thought on the ECU, will look into it, maybe can piggyback into the system and make it switchable, like somme guys do performance chips. Good start, gotta be more ideas out there.
