Default Potential Scion xA Owner

Hey guys,

I'm new here and am just reading up on the different posts. I'm a happy owner of an 01 Sentra SE, but am looking for a new commuter car. (I'm still keeping my Sentra though).

I've narrowed it down to the xA pretty much due to all the options that you get with the base price. Just had a few questions for you seasoned veterans:

Can't the aftermarket items be had for less than what the dealer asks? i.e. AEM CAI, door sills, interior lighting, and spoiler.

If so then do you have any links to the sources?

Also, I've heard that there is a Supercharger in the works. Is this true?

Of course my car is going to be mostly stock until I finish all the stuff I have planned for my Sentra. On a side note, I have a friend over at VIS who has helped me out and hooked up alot of people in the Nissan forums with CF stuff at good prices. If you guys want to see anything produced for the xA (since I'm sure I'll be looking for stuff) let me know.

Welcome to Scionlife! Its true that you could get an intake for less elsewhere.. but if the dealer installs it.. its under youR warrenty. The other stuff, moreoften than not its cheaper outside the dealer.

For links... check out scionlife's links section.. or check out sites like
www.optauto.com and www.ptuning,com. In fact, scionlife has its own store! give it a looksie.

Supers and Turbos are in the works... many are released in japan.
TRD is supposedly bringing out a Turbocharger, i have no idea about dates and prices.

It would be off the hook if you could work with VIS to get more CF goodies out for the xA! Invader & Evo hoods would be cool!

Again, welcome!! :D

Thanks for the welcome. I wasn't aware that they would void your warranty for the AEM if it was installed at a later date. So I should get any engine related stuff right up front right?

How about the strut tower bar? Or how about suspension goodies? Will those also void my waaranty if added later on? What if I had Toyota install them?

because of the magnason (sp?) act a dealer cannot void your warranty unless they can prove that it is the source of the issue at hand... of course reality is a bit different and it all depends upon who is doing the judgement...

Default xA good choice

My opinion is that get somethings after market.
AEM cold air intake $335.00 at the dealer plus install ($50.00)
AEM cold air intake $250.00 after market
My bet is if you can afford it buy it at the dealer it cost $135.00 more and when your spending 13,500 whats 13,635.

Strut bar $225.00 from dealer
Strut bar $30.00 to $180.00 after market.
My thought after putting one on my xA is that unless you feel good under the hood let the dealer do it on an xA. If you have an xB its not as bad and i would say do it after market. Theres alot you have to take out to put one on an xA (about 30 bolts later i could reach the 3 bolts to hold down the bar.

Cup holder illumination and light enhancements from dealer. $300.00 & $280.00
2 - 12" catho-ray tubes and 2 leds computer case lights $35.00
This one, dont do it at the dealer. You'll spend an hour doing this mod and for $265.00 its worth it. If a dealer gives you grief about this mod tell me their name and I'll beat them up for you.

In short get the CAI and Strut Bar from the dealer and thats it.

And from what i know if you put a super charger on your car the warranty is gone, so if you are good enough to pop one of these on your xA then go ahead and do everything yourself. I saw a supercharger on an xB at ElToro and i dont think you could fit the CAI and the SC in an xA but someone else should correct me if im wrong??

But you missed a few good add ons.
Springs?
Rims?
Carbon Fiber Hood?

For springs and rims I might consider adding them later. I used to be able to get Motegi and Roja rims at half retail (or wholesale), but I don't think my cousin works for them anymore.

As for the CF hood for the xA I talked to my friend over at VIS and he said that they could produce one if I provided them a hood. Of course if I could get a few people interested...

Welcome blaze where are you from
I saw that and was like, 'Did the location under people's name disappear?' I guess it takes a bit to find everything on here.

Anyways, back on topic, I'm really interested in a CF hood since the one I want is $800!!

So there still isn't aren't any CF hoods out for the xA (for a resonable price). I thought there were a few companies out there making it.

Out of respect for the mods and their rules for this site I can't organize a GB to get this made. If I were to get like 10 people interested and all of them provided a small deposit I could get it made through VIS as they first need an OEM hood...but then again I'm not allowed to discuss such things.
