hmm~ good question!
Being a xA owner, I do have some bias towards the xA, but I've also had much experience driving a tC and it is a great car to drive. Very torquey and fun to drive~
So... To answer your question, I would get the tC since I already have an xA
BUT if I didn't have one, I would get the xA instead and wait for the RS 2.0 to come out :D Blue is my second favorite color!

I bought an xA because if I bought a tC, I'd be tempted to get back into street racing again... and if I wanted to race, I'd go buy another 4WD turbo like a 90' Mitsubishi Eclipse or an equivalent model with a turbo 4G63 engine. I'm not a big fan of front-wheel drive sports cars, but I do like the design of the tC.
xA RS 1.0 of course! (and not just because I have #240)
I passed a tC on the road today and mentioned it to my 16 yr. old sitting in the passenger seat... and his quote, "That's just like any other car... yours is cooler dad."

the tC is not just another car, there are more XAs than TCs.

If there arent more tC's on the road then the xA, there will be soon. The xA has the lowest sales while the tC has the most.
The advantage of the tC is going to be performance. If going fast doesn't matter all that much to you, I'd suggest going with the xA RS2. It's going to be a lot cheaper to buy, lower insurance and better fuel economy. If you need rear seat passenger room-- get an xB because the tC isn't really much better in that department than the xA.
My vote for you is for the xA RS 2.0

While the tC does have better performance than the xA/xB, it's not exactly mindblowing acceleration. If I opted for good performance, I would have gotten an Si or a base RSX since it is a much better platform to mod on in terms of overall performance (not just straightline street racing I mind you)
The tC however is an excellent car stock and for a daily driver it's the best in it's class :D
I actually like the fact that xA's are selling less
It makes our little cars just that more cooler to own!

tC is really nice and an excellent value that feels like a more expensive car than it is, however its appearance is extremely ordinary and typical Toyota-generic instead of Scion-unique. It should have been a Toyota. Maybe Camry Solara Jr. Scion name should be reserved for vehicles that make a statement and cannot be mistaken for any other car on the road.
