Default Scan gauge II back light

Just bought a scangauge II, version 3.01.

The backlight will not let me select high or low. It's unlit during the night. Maybe I have a bad unit or operator error?

That does NOT sound right. Have you contacted the manufacturer?

It's an aux unit that plugs into the OBDII connector to the left of the steering column under the dash. Here's mine mounted directly above/in front of the steering wheel so I can see it easily.

^^^ It just plugs into the obd2 port. Hardest part is finding a nice sport to put it. I bought mine for the tmp guage, that blue light red light bs doesn't cut it with me. O and the ability to read and clear troublecodes.

Original poster, Contact Scanguage cuz that shouldn't happen. Mine worked beautifully out of the box.

MPH matchs the local speed trap signs. It's worth it to me.

It is accurate - the sensors Toyota uses are actually quite accurate, and that is the root source of the readings (after passing through the ECU, of course).

Those few things that may be inaccurate - precise fuel usage, accurate true speed (varies a lot just with slightly different tire diameter), etc., are correctable just by feeding the ScanGuage the corrected data. Very easy to do, and once done its accuracy is actually rather amazing.

Is it worth the $150? In my opinion, yes, absolutely. You would spend that much just for a good OBDII reader/resetter, and the ScanGuage does that, plus.

Installation is quick and easy - The hardest part really is where to put it and where to run the cable. Mine is Velcroed to the dash right in front of the driver, and the I ran the cable by popping the speedo cowl off, and dropping the cable down next to it behind the dash to the OBDII jack. Took me maybe ten minutes - I'm slow.

I was just thinking the same thing, it reads the ECU data off factory sensors. I paid 155 loacly in San Diego. It's worth it.

Strange the backlight on ine I just bought in the GB has a problem also. If you have it set to a lighter color it fades from left to right from one color to another. My backlight also flickers occasionally. I sent 365 a message, I'm sure they'll take care of it.
