Can I buy a blank transponder key off the internet and then program it myself? I have a 2006 Scion XA. How do I know if I EVEN need a transponder key? I recently had a remote start installed, and one of the questions the tech asked me is "Did I have a black dot on the key below the plastic cap?" I did not and he said "good". IS there more than one type of key for the XA?

I posted the question about the transponder key above. Got no answers from here, but when I took my key to the hardware store, it turned out, that they had a gadget that you stick your key in, and it tells you if you have a programmable key. I did not, so got 2 spares made at a normal key price.
