Default Spray Paint

So I went to Home Depot and got a silver cap to put over the windshield wiper hole. I want to spray paint, but I have know idea which color goes with my car. I have a Phantom Grey Pearl, but the spray paint are laberdl as primer, medium, and metallic grey. Does anyone know which one would fit the color right or will I have to experiment?

im just working on that as we speak.. what kind of cover did you find for the wiper whole ? ... if its a small cover you can always just use touch up paint from the dealership...

Yeah, my home depot sucks and I got a pretty big plug, so i dont think touch up paint will do... i think it will leave to many streaks. And spray paint would probably look best.

Well, the exact color code for Phantom Gray Pearl is 1E3 from Toyota (I have a PGP also, and have looked at paints for the car). For a plug..hmm I know there are a couple of website that sell touch up bottles and spray paint cans of our paint color.

I'll have to check the link for you.

Found them:
http://www.automotivetouchup.com/
http://www.paintscratch.com/

How well they really match our paint, I don't know.
I've yet to purchase from these sites, but I think I might be doing so sometime in the near future. I intend to sand and paint the black under bumper things and side skirt, to match the car.

I plan to paint the windshield wiper (black plastic) shroud just below the windshield as well as the mirror plastic that attaches to the doors.(if possible)...

The Dupli-Color touch up for PG does NOT match!! I have had 2 bottles and they look great wet, but they dry more towards silver.

I plan on swinging by a body shop and begging for some the next time they paint a PG Toyota....

i was thinkin the same thing... well about the doors. i've seen some cars with the carbon fiber panels just glued on but i don't really like how it looks - besides i haven't seen it in red. i'd go all out and paint the black plastic that's also on the base of the side mirrors. good luck with that.

Dont paint B-pillars, they are covered with vinyal tape and you can just peel it off, body paint color is there under vinyal.
Some xB owners have done this and a few xAs as well, looks okay but I like the black out look with tinted windows!!

Lol, that's funny, I'm doing the exact opposite. I went from BSP to two tone and forgot to tell the painter to leave the door sill black, so now I'm putting on vinyl for the blacked out look.

No, the side mirror surround is solid plastic and you would have to paint, otherwise you would have holes leading into door and fender areas exposed...

From far away, I suppose it's not too bad.
Up close though, you can see brush marks.

It looks like the PGP matches well after it dries.
Did you use the DupliColor paint?
Oldmanatee said the DupliColor PGP didn't match for him after it dried.

If it is DupliColor, then I may have to just go pick one up because my car has bad scratches from the previous owner.
I guess it would be better to have an off-gray than the white and black marks.

Keep an eye in the color after a week or so....Did you clear it?

I kinda like the emblem, I'd re-black the letters tho...

So i went to autozone and looked a in the booklet of the code for the paint. basically, if want to get a spray paint of the Phantom Grey.... you look up 8801614.

Here is the break down for Dupli-Color Codes:

Three Digit Code - 1E3
Extended Code - TY 01614 (On top of the three digit)
Spray Paint Code - 8801614

Visit the website for the other codes.

Still looking for the spray paint though... the Kragen and Autozone I been to dont have it. But i dont mind look for it. im bored at home so it gives me something to do.

Yeah, Kragen and Autozone here don't have specific spray paints for cars. They only carry the little brush/pen paint bottles.
