Upgrade from xA to Honda Fit?
I saw the Fit at a Scion market research survey event in 2003, I can tell you that when the car comes out the interior WON'T be as nice as the in the pictures. Since it's a Honda, you know they will make you pay extra for stuff like A/C and power options. Fit offers more seat configurations and storage and even aux power port than xA, but for me it's just too girly. (not that xA is manly, but Fit is like that valley girl that's good for messing around but not for keeps. uhh don't know if that's a good analogy) =Þ

"HONDA TO DEBUT 1.3-LITER-CLASS SUBCOMPACT IN U.S. THIS YEAR
TOKYO (Nikkei)--Honda Motor Co. (7267) will start selling a 1.3-liter-class subcompact in the U.S. as early as this year to fend off its South Korean rivals, The Nihon Keizai Shimbun has learned. The model will be based on the Fit, which is highly popular in Japan, and the automaker expects annual sales of 50,000. Priced at around 10,000 dollars for the lowest-end model, it will be cheaper than the company's Civic, which is priced between 13,000 dollars and 20,000 dollars for models with 1,300-2,000cc engines. Honda at this point is considering exporting the vehicles from Japan, but may produce them in Brazil instead if the dollar continues to trade below 110 yen and makes exports from Japan less profitable or even loss making. Honda sold 1.35 million new cars in the U.S. last year, a gain of 8% on the year and a record. But the strong performance owed to solid sales of the Pilot sport utility vehicle and other nonpassenger cars. Honda and other Japanese automakers have long dominated the subcompact field, but are now facing stiff competition from Hyundai Motor Co. of South Korea. The South Korean automaker's market share in the U.S. grew from 1.8% in 1998 to 5.7% in 2003. (The Nihon Keizai Shimbun Thursday morning edition) "
Nissan is also expected to release thier Cube. The FIT is an awarding winning car by the way.

Very nice interior, very utilitarian and no center gauge pod!!! Saddly it will be slower then a xA and its fuglier then a Aveo.
Even worse, this is what the sedan looks like which is what the US is expected to recieve after the floop on the SI Hatchback (Honda learned US don't like hatchs
)

Gross
Personaly, the Nissan Cube is HOT! Way better looking then the xB (xB is hideous). However I think the Cube is expected to be around 13-14k starting, pricy.

If Toyota brought the Vitz here..let me say I would be on the waiting list.
It would have to be the Vitz RS though..standard Echo interior doesn't do it for me.
The Fit is pretty cool though.

Pretty sweet if I may so so myself.

I'm sorry. . . the fit is still extremely ugly to me. . . it's like taking an xA and beating it with an ugly stick. . .
I even hated the xB at one point, but have since warmed up to them. . . and I kinda want one to go along side my xA. The Jazz/Fit never appealed to me, and still doesn't. God, that thing is ugly. But you do gotta love the folding seat bottoms, and the larger cargo area. . . but if I wanted versatility, I would have bought an xB.

I believe the sedan is the Honda City, which isn't so bad in person. . . it's like an Echo, but not as weird, and no plastic.
But the Jazz/Fit is ugly in pictures and in person. My granny's panty stains are more appealing

The fit looks too much like a soccer mom minivan. Aesthetically, I don't think the elongated line (compared to the more diminutive xA) is pleasing to the eye.....but that's my subjective opinion, of course. The Mercedez-Benz Vision B is more visually pleasing, but no doubt at the cost of $$price$$.
Corbic, thanks for posting all the pics. The Nissan Cube's rear end looks too asymmetrical for my liking....plus the shape is a blatant rip-off (I'd be embarassed if I were Nissan).
As for the interior styling (Fit, Cube, and xA), I still prefer the xA over the others. The Fit's dash arrangement looks....well....Honda (neither good, nor bad....just bland). And the Cube's dash is.....cubicle (doesn't "move" me like Scion).
I'm a fan of the Scion xA center pod console. I find it more practical than a traditional cluster, and the center layout of the pod, stereo, and A/C looks different and more ergonomic in the xA.
