Who is left on here with an xA?

Saved it!
Saved a 2006, got it about a week ago right before the fires took over Oregon, I don't even know if the guy I bought from's house is still standing..
Got for $400. 225k miles, had a blown engine, Graphite pretty much 100% stock even has the Scion hub caps.

I'm keeping mine
My '06 xA is the best car I have ever owned!!! I freaking love my car!!! It's almost paid off, and I won't be getting rid of it until it blows up, or until the time comes that I am physically (and/or, mentally) incapable of driving a manual transmission 5 speed car. As we speak, the odometer reads 187340. Haters can hate all they want to...F$%k 'em if they can't take a joke!!!

1st Gen owner, here. Have had my 2004 Scion xA for 17 years now. Hard to believe it. Have less than 115,000 miles on it, and it is still running great.

Just picked up an '06 MT to join my wife's '05 AT. So much more fun with the clutch! It has 150,000 miles and I got it for $1500 here in Minnesota. Runs great!
Just put new tires on it...14" rims.

My 2005 has 279,000 miles on it. Paint is faded on top, CDs have not ejected in years and the idle bounces from 550-800 at stoplights when the A/C is running. Just recently it developed an exhaust leak. I don't want to waste time crawling under it trying to locate the source of the leak so I'm taking it to our mechanic. I'm also going to have him replace the idle control valve with the one I bought a year ago but never got around to doing myself. Namely because I couldn't figure out how to get the throttle body to come off. A couple of bolts and there's this weird screw with a slot at the end.
I've been working from home all but 1-2 days a month so I don't put the miles on it like a used to. It still gets 31 MPG. I do the oil changes. Wish I'd never touched the evil drum brakes. Now they squeak. Disc brakes are easy - love those things.

I have a stack of Scion stereos that all have the CD eject problem. It was my intention to take one apart and see if there's a remedy for this common issue, but life gets busy and all that... I've had many Pioneer car stereos that stopped ejecting CDs after a while, even aftermarket ones. If I can find a solution I might do a write-up here, I know many people have this problem.

I'm Here!
Bought the last xA off the lot brand new in Jan 2007 and have had it ever since. Used it as a daily driver to work (30 mile commute) for 5 years, gave it to my daughter, and when she got a new car it's now the family utility vehicle. 171K miles later that car is still the best vehicle I've ever purchased. Only thing we've had to do to it in the last 15 years is change the alternator and the exhaust system. The cargo space is amazing with the seats folded down, so we use it to haul things to charities when we clean out the house, take lawn waste to the compost site, pick up large items from the store....that kind of thing. Everytime we drive it was say "What a great little car" :D We're thinking of adding a trailer hitch so we can use a small trailer to carry more stuff.
I'm driving a BMW now and my wife has an Audi, but our Scion xA will always be part of the family!

The first one we had was a manual. At the time my soon to be x bought a new car and traded the 2004 Scion xA in for $100. I was ILL over that stupid move - either of the kids could have used it.
Was worth so much more to anyone than $100. I called the dealer when he got home with his new car - and the xA was already gone. Guaranteed a mechanic jumped on it.
I bought a 2005 xA automatic from my dental hygienist - 143K for $500. I have put $2400 in it. The catalytic converter is stinky - old - but they cost so much. I am just using the car for running around in order to keep my 2014 Corolla mileage down.
I WISH I could get new shocks/struts all the way around - previous owner 'lowered' it and a new catalytic converter and boy oh boy would I love to get it painted Seafoam green.
ALTERNATE USE FOR YOUR PANASONIC CD PLAYER: I was looking for a VENT cell phone holder similar to the one I have in my other car. 2005 xA has the round vents. Tried the vent phone holder on xA - no way. Then I noticed there are "CD PLAYER Cell Phone holders"
Looks like many are not very good - but who can believe reviews anymore. I selected one and it will be here Wednesday. Cell phones anywhere near A/C vents are a must have at least for me - in coastal South Carolina and summers can be hard on cell phones.

I just had to post here again. I still have my one owner 2005 xA with 235,000 miles on it! The car has never once failed to get me where I was going, it was even nice enough to have the water pump fail as I was turning into my driveway. I have to say that at this point for reliability alone it is the best car I have ever owned.

Do not alter it! Take it from someone that has gone 235,000 miles with almost no problems, drive it and enjoy it but avoid the temptation to modify it. Toyota knew what they were doing. Water pump will fail around 120,000 miles, replace spark plugs every 30,000 along with air and cabin air filters. 5,000 mile oil changes, replace other fluids on schedule. Rear brakes every 100,000 miles, fronts as required. The self adjusters on the rear brakes suck, that is my only mechanical complaint about the car.

I just bought a brand new 2006 xA that has had a dubious past at best. With ( supposedly) 121000 miles back and forth from the grocery store ( i'm sure only at an idle too ).
Angryslug will be visiting frequently and I dont mind advice on issues people have had in the past.
- Put front bumper foam backer from an xB junkyard style,
- Did a Frankenstein repair on the front bumper and have and will replace inner wheel liners.
- Oziumed the innards for cigarette smoke.
- Brakes will need replaced
- Giving all 5 emission codes that I figure relate to the carbon vapor box.

Yeah thats pretty rough, not driving it enough to warm it up all the way is 10x worse than free way driving x.x
