Default Why I love the xA

OK, OK... I'm too old for the target demographic. I'm 35, own a Tundra, I hunt and fish and am politically conservative. "Riced" cars have always bothered me for some reason. Folgers cans are for making coffee, not sticking on the end of the tailpipe of your Civic. In short, I'm not the kind of person Toyota was after when they built this car.

However...

I love the xA. I've been driving a 5 speed as a demo for about 2 weeks now and I can't get over how cool this thing is. Its quick, nimble, comfortable, handles well (aside from the torque steer), gets lots of looks from other drivers and has a fantastic stereo. I hate to admit that I like the throaty sound of the TRD exhaust. My dad had a term for cars like this. He called them "flingable" and that really applies to this car. Its just fun to drive.

My first car was a 1968 VW Baja Bug. That car appealed to me on several different levels. I was able to personalize it to meet my imagage of myself. From wheels and tires to fender flares, stinger tail pipe and a carpeted deck to replace the rear seat. That car was mine becuase I made it that way. It was simple, well made, inexpensive and unique. It too was "flingable".

The same things that appealed to me about the Bug also appeal to me with the xA. Sure, this one is only a demo and I'll have another one in a few months, but I can really see why y'all own these. This might be the first demo I actually don't want to get rid of. It just feels like its mine.

What a great car!

I'm glad you are enjoying it. I have about another month before I get mine but from what I've seen and from how much I've driven it I don't think I'll be disappointed in the least.

Heh he, a 5-speed is a stick.

I have stick. I like how it revs. I like stoplights. I like the xA's 0-40 from a stoplight -- that's 1st & 2nd gear. I'm revving to just about 6K. It's pretty fun.

I like turns too. When I'm almost home, I sometimes turn instead of going straight to get some more of that acceleration on a turn and after the turn! Yah!

Give me the toughest road with the most turns that's what I say. :D

I love the people stopping me constantly asking my me about my xA. Asking how fast it goes. Asking where they can get one. Asking how much tail I snag with it.

I love cruising down the streets with my windows blasting my XM. I love coming to the boards and reading what everyone is doing to their scion.

I love pulling to the Grand Casino in Biloxi when it booming and my cupholders lit up, and watching the valet drool over it.

I love my xA
