Default Worst luck ever

So my old car dies last week so I go car shopping. I look at the Scions on Saturday and love the xA. I want a manual and they only have autos so they get one shipped to me. I go last night (Wed) and pick it up. LOVE IT!

Today, I am going to lunch to meet a friend and show off my new Scion xA and A GUY REAR ENDS ME at a stop sign. I was soooooooo mad! I had the car only 14 hours! *&^%$#@!

Luckily, nobody was hurt and it only barely scratched the bumper. Barely - you can barely see it when looking for it, but you can see it if you look. The guy had the nerve to say "it's only a small scratch"! I wanted to punch him. If I had not been driving a car that I owned for less than a day, I might have said no biggie, but given it was new and he had a 'tude, I got his insurance info and I'm gonna get an estimate and get it fixed. He even tried to blame ME for him rear-ending me at the stop sign.

Anyway, love, love, LOVE my Scion. I have been lurking since Saturday and just signed up to the forums. I have some cool ideas for interior mods. I'll post them in the appropriate forums.

Here are pics of my xA:

hahahaha u at fault, thats a good one. the law is that the person who rearends someone is always at fault. you should have gotten out or ur car rubbing ur neck, that would have scared him.

Wow, that def. is some bad luck. At least there wasnt anything too bad.

On the positive side, glad to see weve got another xA owner, make sure you check out some of the other sites like xaTeam.com and scioncommunities.com!

Well, there are a few exceptions, but mostly, yeah.

I'm always afraid at stop signs because I've had a few times where I was looking both ways and there wasn't any traffic and I was getting ready to gogogo, and then I notice the person in front of me hasn't gone yet for whatever reason. So now I don't even bother looking to see if I'm clear yet until I'm 100% sure the person in front of me has gone. I've seen so many people rear end other people doing this very thing.

Glad you got his insurance. If they have to replace the bumper it's gunna be a bit... I would be so ____ed after just 14 hours.

I know the feeling! This happened to me when my xA had 500 miles on it:

It was $7k in damages. I was also stopped at a light when it happened.

Sorry to hear about that. I too just got through waiting about 1.5 months to receive my manual xA. I picked it up about 3 days ago and only have 77miles on it. I was worried the same thing would happen to me, and I would have hit the roof if it did. Good thing you got his insurance. I wouldn't have given him a freebie pass on that one.

Hi Brian, Welcome to SL and to our xA family. Sorry to hear about your bruised bumper; I don't blame you for feeling upset, I would too! I've had mine 14months and it would bother me just as much! We have some lousy drivers here in the triangle! It looks like you live near me as you listed your location as near Raleigh. I live in Garner and work at RDU. Where did you buy your car? What color is it? Hopefully our paths will cross one day. Always glad to meet another xA owner!

I'm hoping it's like lightning and it only strikes once

I took it to the body shop for an estimate today - $391 to fix it. I should take a pic though I don't think it will show in the photo.
