Default xA: Amber Instrument Panel Illumination / Storage Box Illum.

Finally I got my car today... and discover that the storage box light ( the amber instrument panel illumination) only illuminates when any of the doors or the hatch is open.

this is a failure...the storage light has lost its beauty and function so to speak..

Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Try to imagine that if the storage box light will ON when you switch on the CD Player and it will OFF when you turn off the CD player.

I really want to know how to at least let me turn on the storage box light. SCION SOULS~~~ I AM SEEKING HELP... THANKS A LOT.

T-tap a wire from the positive wire going to that light, and T-tap that wire to the wire that goes/would go to the cup holder illumination?

The wires for cupholder illumination are already there. . . all wiring is laid in a car at the factory. . . they are there, just look for them, once you remove the whole center plastic thingie. . .

Mikochu (a.k.a. The Man) has done a writeup in the FAQ section of the site on how to remove the oven:

And there's a Tech article on DIY interior lighting (cathodes, LEDs and/or cup-holder illumination):

And you can tap into this same harness with a switch to control the "Oven" too. I did that today and it's pretty easy.
